because the themes from 1b4 don't work on 1b5+  they aren't compatable

and you don't auto update to TP1.0b5

you have to uninstall tp1.0b4 first .. then install tp1.0b5-1

Actually it do show update TP in SMF1.1, and no info about uninstall before attemt to upgrade eather.

But after reading through this topic, i dont think your theme issues will be better after you try and upgrade a second time, the themes have numerous changes through the versions where a lot of code have moved out from the themes to their own files in TP, so best would be for you to ask the themecreator if he/she can upgrade the theme itself to work with the newer TP

Not a good news :(

then I will stay in TP1B4

I will wait for final SMF 2 to migrate everything and change template

Thank you

lbuisson,

OK, now that we're all through that, I would like to ask you some questions.

1.  Before you upgraded anything, what version of SMF and TP were you using?  Were you using TP 0.98 or TP 1.0 beta X?

2.  What theme were you using in the beginning, before upgrading to anything?

3.  Were you using TP 0.98 and then upgraded to TP 1.0 beta 4?  If so, did you find the non-TP 0.98 version of your theme and start using that?

4.  Any chance you would share a link to your site so that we can see it?

Themes that worked fine with SMF 1.1.x/TP 0.98 will not work correctly with SMF 1.1.x/TP 1.0 beta 4.  Likewise, themes that worked fine with SMF 1.1.x will not work at all with SMF 2.0.  We can solve your problems but I don't think we've gotten all of the information that we need to understood how to help you.   If you don't want to do anything now, that's fine, but TP 1.0 beta 5-1 is working great with very few errors, if it's installed correctly.  We've helped others and we can help you as well.  But we need to know what we are dealing with.

Hi

I will try to answer to all ;)

- I was before on same theme on TP 0,98
- I install manually TP 1 beta 4 on same theme without problem
- My theme is based on 1,1 SMF and it is the same since severals months without changes
- the first issues came from TP 1 beta 5 and same with TP 1 beta 5-1

As explain before it is a production forum (in my signature) then I test a lot but I'm trying to create test forum with same settings to show you.

OK, when you get your test Forum up and running, please let us know.

FWIW, themes that are used with Tinyortal 0.98 will often times have the problems you have referred to when you try to use the same theme with a version of TinyPortal that is not TP 0.98.  This is why, when Crip or Bloc designs a theme, people who still use TP 0.98 will request that the theme be edited for that version of TP.

The theme in use on your site looks like it was designed by Fussilet.  He probably has a regular SMF 1.1.x version of that theme because he used to do themes for TP 0.98 as well.  If you had found that theme and started using it, it's likely that you wouldn't have had the problems that you wrote about.  Also, please understand this.  Before you can install TP 1.0 beta 5-1 on that site, you will have to make sure that all traces of TP 0.98 have been removed.  The easiest way to do this is to perform an upgrade to your site with the SMF large upgrade.  That disadvantage of doing this is that any other SMF Mods that you are using will have to be reinstalled.

If you want to do this, LMK and I will give you a link that will show you how to do that.  It's not that difficult.
