is it possible to put up a block with referrals?

lets say www.somesite.com has a link to my site and the person visits my site, thhe referrer block ads www.somesite.com to the list.

Something like this: (bottom right)
http://e-humor.net/

gerrymo

That would be an excellent addition if it's not too complex to do.

HappyFace

if you don't mind.. *bump*

I still have no luck, and no mods are being made so far.
Anyone else wanna help me out?

akulion

check on smf
I believe there is an affiliate mod there
u could ask for this feature to be put in if its not already in
but that mod is quite detailed, so it could be in there already

HappyFace

Uhm.  i don't need an affiliate mod.

What i want is basicly (after seeing the link is dead in my first post) when someone visits you from site X the site name will be displayed on your site in a block.

Lets say im browsing tinyportal and click on a link that points to our site, the link will be displayed on the site.

like this:

referrer (last 10):
http://www.tinyportal.co.uk
http://www.simplemachines.org/
...

etc

knat

Yes. PHPNuke already has it. No idea how hard it would be to write for TP/SMF though.

I don't know much about how to do this, But my cPanel that my webhost provides has those stats.

Quote
Connect to site from
Origin   Pages   Percent   Hits   Percent
Direct address / Bookmarks   7609   98 %   10413   98.5 %
Links from a NewsGroup
Links from an Internet Search Engine - Full list
- Google   22   22
- MSN   3   3
- Unknown search engines   2   2
- Yahoo   1   1
   28   0.3 %   28   0.2 %
Links from an external page (other web sites except search engines) - Full list
- http://www.blahblah.nets/showthread.php   28   28
- http://us.moreblah.yahoo.coms/ym/ShowLetter   20   20
- http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php   14   14

I guess this information could be pulled from the stats.. It would obviously need Username/Password and the URL to that page.
I'm not sure every cPanel has that info.

[EDIT]
Then again.. I'm not sure it's Safe (security) or even possible.
Viewing the source code of the site would reveal the Password, unless it could be pulled from elsewhere.

Was just a thought... thinking about it.. not a very good one  :uglystupid2:

Here's a way to develop one on your own...
Hopefully this helps:
http://www.downes.ca/referrers.htm
Toward the bottom of the page you can download and install the script yourself...

or you can be lazy like me and sign up here
http://www.e-referrer.com/index.php
And use the code in a script block  ;)

You can check it out HERE toward the bottom of the left block
