Tiny Potral install error on SMF 1.0.7

Thanks to the effort and the responses....

But honestly... I don't have time to play with this.  It used to be fun and interesting awhile back, but now... unstable applications are nothing more than a thorn in my ass.

What happened to make sure things work before releasing them?

Does nobody do that anymore?

Regardles... this leads me to one final question.

Is this going to fixed or not in the next revision of TP / SMF... or is this long-winded thread of various patches going to be the "permanent work around"?

Hence that is the reason it's called beta. Because it's only for people who are willing to go through the hoops that are required while it's in beta, until it is stable.

I'd also like to point out that Bloc hasn't officially released TP for 1.0.7.... This is just something the users are doing in the mean time.

in the 20+ years I have been doing development work, we have always had this perverse little habit of putting the word "BETA" at the end of our BETA release version #..

to me and most of the rest of the development world...

1.0.7 indicates a NON-beta release...

1.0.7 (BETA) would indicate a BETA release...

You simply overwrite everything with the Manual Install and then run the manual_tp_install.php

yea... i did that... man install runs fine...

tells me it installed, but it's nowhere to be found.

have you done the manual install of the database tables to? Or just the files for the portal into SMF ?

Grrr I should learn to leave well enough alone....I did the upgrade to the newer smf and it went down hill from there.

I have edited the xml, can get TP to load into smf but when I go to install it I get this error

Now I know I saw somthing like this in this thread but for the life of me I can't figure out what was the solution

My suggestion to fix: go to Package Manager.

APPLY MOD > PROCEED.


Look at the errors it gives you each time.  What I did was, carefully located each file in question, changed CMOD properties to '777' on each file, and would click 'Back' then 'Proceed' over and over until no errors showed up.

If it lists an error to a file that doesnt exist, like /Themes/default/english/TPAdmin***.php I actually had to find each file in the Tinyportal0_86.zip and manually copy it over.  They didnt get extracted by SMF properly somehow...

Again, all this started since 1.0.7 came out.

Thats the exact same thing another user here had. I helped him get it up and running, but i had to go with the manual install package, it didnt work any other way

Can't seem to locate this in Themes/default/index.template.php

Woo hoo got it working...now to get my old theme back in, and update the languages to have the extra stuff I put in.
