I tried installing 1.1rc2 and it asks for SQL password.  I enter : YES and it tells me its no good  :o

Isnt YES the default for Fantastico installs?  SO neways yea.. that didnt work either.

Ill pull more hair out in the morning fellas.  Thanks for staying up late!  Ill come nag u in teh A.M. :P

Oh and BTW, installing 1.0.6 is NOT possible.  I can install only 1.0.5 then it provides ONLY the 1.0.7 upgrade.  Ive tried installs on both .5 and .7 to no avail.

The only difference between tonight and a few days ago when I did www.Outpost-Host.us/faq is the new update to 1.0.7

I think its FUBAR

Bingo....Don't use Fantastico! Causes more problems than .....!

Use FTP, you will have fewer problems.

Ook I slapped it around some and figured out how to at least get TP working.. limping anyways...  I noticed that when I did the package install, lots of files were missing I kept getting these errors:

2: copy(/home/garrick/public_html/team/Themes/default/languages/TPortalAdmin.english.php): failed to open stream: Permission denied
File: /home/garrick/public_html/team/Sources/Subs-Package.php

So I went back in and manually added all the files that said permission denied (in fact there were no files).  Then I tried to change permissions on Themes/default/TP***.php files which came up bad, and was denied, so I copied over new ones, renamed them to .phpTEST instead changed permission, deleted the originals, and renamed the new ones back to .php

Clicked Proceed, and presto it works, well sorta.  The Theme has broken images I have to manually upload now, and I STILL HAVE NOT applied the TP Update files.

More to come soon.

Thanks to the effort and the responses....

But honestly... I don't have time to play with this.  It used to be fun and interesting awhile back, but now... unstable applications are nothing more than a thorn in my ass.

What happened to make sure things work before releasing them?

Does nobody do that anymore?

Regardles... this leads me to one final question.

Is this going to fixed or not in the next revision of TP / SMF... or is this long-winded thread of various patches going to be the "permanent work around"?

stigmartyr

Thats what Im asking too.  Luckily my experience with installing helped.  Normally the install for SMF 1.0.5 or 1.0.6 works very well.  At the worst, you simply overwrite everything with the Manual Install and then run the manual_tp_install.php

In this case, SMF pushed out a patch 1.0.7 and for what ever reason, it caused permission errors with many of the files.
