I can't create a new board on my site, that is the error code I get. Please help :)

IchBin

That error has been posted about several times now. Please use the search.

mrpike

Don't know what to search exactly. I'm not good with computer stuff.

Here -> http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?topic=34113.0

And its general problem of this version of tp which makes it really unusuable.

IchBin

Only unusable if you're using an unsupported character set. It should still work fine if you make the changes suggested in that topic.

mrph

And even if we use supported character set.
It is up to database, not character set.
There is more and more people who has the same error and problem is in tp which should be solved or people just should give up from tp and try with other smf portal's mods.

mrpike

Seeing as how I'm not good with computers, I don't know how to change the code or anything, so I'm pretty lost.

IchBin

If that is the attitude you want to have with free software you are free to do so. I do this on my free time because I like to code and help people. But if people can't be patient while I try to figure things out, and want to place blame and start pointing fingers, well then I'll just stop doing this for free and people can figure things out for themselves.

mrpike,

You don't have to edit any code. You just have to go into your database and rename the column from authorID to author_id. Your host should have a tool like phpMyAdmin that allows you to view and edit all of the tables in your database.

Just to make sure, did you upgrade from another version of SMF and TP? IF so, please state which version you were running of each.

mrpike

Yeah I updated from 1.1.14 of SMF to 2.0
And I upgraded TP as well.

I understand that it is free so don't worry about the bugs, I like what I have seen. I just don't know how to use computers well haha. I'll try to change the name thing in PHPmyadmin and see if that works.
