The free comment wasn't directed at you. Sorry, just irked me that people get all fussy with free software and free help.

I just posted a file for the db installer. Please try running this file and see if it works. You must upload it to the root of your SMF directory, and then run it in your browser.
www.yourdomain.com/smf_folder/tp_upgrade.php

Ok I will try the file do I just upload it into my root forum in Filezilla?

Lesmond

yes mate then run the file from your browser has ichbin said.

Nice to see you here, you the same mrpike from PM?

mrpike

Yes sir, same one.

I tried uploading the file directly into the root menu of my forum, but I cannot find the file in my browser.....

Lesmond

send me link in pm here or on PM I will have a look for you

ZarPrime

mrpike,

That is correct.  So, if your Forum is located at www.MyForum.com/SMF/ then you would upload the tp_upgrade.php file to your /public_html/SMF folder via FTP and then, once it is in there, you should use your browser to navigate to the file, sort of like this --> www.MyForum.com/SMF/tp_upgrade.php

Be sure to change www.MyForum.com/SMF/ in the above link to the url for your Forum.  The file should then run and update your tables.  Please let us know if that works OK for you.

Edit:  Hmmm, pipped by Lesmond. :^)

Ok so I tried it and it brought me to a different page that says this
Database Error
No database selected
File: /home/content/46/7874846/html/forum/tp_upgrade.php
Line: 316

@IchBin - you didn't get me.

My point is that is impossible that it is just to our end because there are more people with the same problem and it seems  unreal that trouble is to encode because all of them have english set as default forum language and english is 8859-1 encode.

I don't push you, just try to somehow help you to get to the solution.

I'm not programmer and only think i can do is to test solutions which you give to us and c/p errors.

But i would appreciate if you said us that you , eventually,  can not resolve the problem and we'll see what we have to do then. :)
