Well, not anymore lol, as of January 2010 I am no longer on the SMF team, nor as SMF Friend. This is due to how they have handled things in recent weeks..but I am not giving up SMF as such. The new software that maybe come out of smf-friends.org is something I look forward too, but I won't be playing a major part there either.

Lesson learned: too many things in the air, and one or several of them drops eventually. I am focusing on own projects and themes now.

sounds like you have lost abit of enthusiasm bloc?

bloc

Well, yeah, I won't deny that.

But I also know that to gain it back, the best thing for me is to distance myself from all the crap lol. And thats what I am doing now.

Yea, I've seen you was demoted on sm.org :/ Well, kind a not fair since you did so many there (if am I wrong you worked on Curve right?) ... but this banning was not fair for most of ppl.

Don't lose motivation to work Bloc, remeber that we believe in you. TP just kick-a**, oh and themes also ^^

bloc

Thanks. :)

Yes, thats correct, I did the design of the Curve theme(up to 14 internal revisions before the team liked it lol), and helped on converting all the templates. I guess the look of Curve sort of gives that away, now. Just a glance at the theme gallery will make that apparant. ;D

Well, if its fair or not..I don't see it that way: i did request removal of the Friends badge, and before also resigned from the team, so it was my choice all along - no matter the whys and reasosn it was only me. And giving a new and fresh(hopefully) look to SMF was never any regret about, no matter how things turned out. I also did Core theme design, but wasn't quite happy about it - but at that time people weren't ready for round headers etc. PhpBB paved the way though.

About TP and portals, lately lots of them have emerged and thats fine. Simpleportal is the most popular now, but for me it isn't/wasn't about being the most popular, rather being useful and innovative. With the TP team dragging me back to getting those bugs sorted ;) I think it will be good. And then I can focus on some of the modules I have been talking about last 2 years..(..)

Swampy

A big key to the resurgence of TP will be the release of TP 1.0 Beta 5.  With that site operators will flock back and you will get all sorts of feedback that will assist with future models, not to mention also all the good vibes it will create.

Simple Portal is nice, lots of goodies, but it isn't TinyPortal!!

Did you also remove the download from the sm.org site?

because i see TP isn't under the portals section any more....

since RC2, i have tested all portals on my test site... all have there pros and cons, but i have to be honest TP is the most useful.

It's the one that is the most like a CMS IMO and has its own unique features.

when i use other portals, i see little bit of TP (same features) but TP has them all.

I'm not going to lie, i have been really tempted to use another portal until TP was release for RC2, but after using them all none of them do what i need in a simple fashion.

For me TP is definalty the most useful and innovative Portal out there, so you have most achieved that Bloc

Lord Anubis

well all I can say is I love TP, and glad the development of this continues...  I have used Simple Portal and in the way past MK portal, but I have to say TP is more intuitive, and has lots of good features.  Not to mention the staff over here are eager to assist in helping write code, which is a BIG plus.  And I am sure TP will be first place once a public release for comes out for SMF 2.  :)

bloc

SN, yes, I removed it. I might add it back, but for now the package server here on TP can also update your TP. I hope to have more releases out using that, not to mention extra modules. Thanks for the comment on CMS-like lol, it was intended all along as a "mini CMS" for SMF.

Lord Anubis, totally agreed. The team here have been, and are, exceptional. :) And we managed to keep any politics out too lol.

Blue Steel

I think its a brilliant CMS like interface for SMF. Like integramod used to be for PhpBB absolutly brilliant. its the main reason i changed over to SMF and TinyPortal.

I'm just concerned that Tinyportal is Falling behind and that others are changing away from Tinyportal because its not supporting SMF2 yet . others have had support now for months. I'm not saying its a bad thing just i feel it is chasing people away to other p[ortal software that we may never get back because its to hard to convert their exsisting portals back to TinypPortal when it comes out.

I'm prepared to wait. but now with the Trouble at SMF it may chase even more away from TinyPortal and SMF. I'm also afraid that IF SMF does go that This great Project that is TinyPortal will disappear without saupport for SMF2 Release candidate (as i see it the final release may never come with those disputes they are having at SMF) it would be a very sorry day indeed

bloc

Well, I think a great deal of people will turn away, no doubt. But for my part I have regained a lot of enthusiasm towards SMF the script, now that I no longer have anything to do with the SMF team.

So TP will continue on full speed. :)
