I posted this on the SMF forum too:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Heya guys.
I've been working on a problem for almost 5 months now. I leave my forum...put it in maintenance mode....come back months later...and I'm still stumped.
So, I've thrown in the towel...and I'm now coming to you guys for help. So...HELP PLEASE! LOL
Okay. So, as I said in the subject, I have three modifications that I would like to make to my forum. I use tinyportal, so I'm also posting this on the tinyportal thread as two of these problems relate to Tinyportal.
So without further ado:
Problem 1:
On my forum, I have added pictures into the different forum sections. I will show you a screenshot:
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt249/bhamilton26/headingproblem.jpg
Basically as it says there, I want the heading to line up flush against the right side of the picture with the rest of the description, not above it.
Here's an example of the code I'm using:
<div style="float:left; margin-right: 4px;"><a href="http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y232/FeralTomcat/?action=view&amp;current=M4_PEO_Soldier.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y232/FeralTomcat/M4_PEO_Soldier.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a></div> We Support almost all FPS games. If you see one we don't host and you would like us to, please post it in the suggestion forum!
What I'm doing is plugging that code into the forum description when I create the board.
So that's problem 1.
Problem 2:
Now, you can call me a dirty copycat, but these guys have a very nice board that is to be envied. I like their style alot and wanted to use it on my community board. So sue me. But in any case, I can't even begin to re-create what they've done here without help.
So....
Screenshot time again:
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt249/bhamilton26/how2.jpg
So, how did they make that kinda menu?? If you go to http://www.texasteamplayers.com and look at their sitemap menu on the left, if you hover over a link it pops open a very beautiful menu structure. Does anyone have any idea how they did this and can you give me an idea of where I should get started re-creating that?
Again, I know I'm a copycat but I like that idea and I give full credit to TTP. Their system is lovely.
And finally...onto question 3:
How do I put user submitted articles on the main page like this:
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt249/bhamilton26/articles.jpg
Again, all credit to TTP, but that's a neat idea that I want to implement on my tinyportal main page. Anyone have any ideas? It looks like custom code that the webmaster of TTP created for that site.
That's it guys. I will check back every hour for updates. Thanks so much for your help!!
Problem 1: What do you mean by
QuoteI want the heading to line up flush against the right side of the picture with the rest of the description, not above it.
You mean that you want the name of the board to be to the right of the picture? That would be a theme thing, if it's possible at all. At any rate, it has nothing to do with TP.
Problem 2:
Take a look at the source code on the page that you want. You'll likely be able to see the code and copy it.
Overall, it's a javascript thing. You can pick up a lot of different javascript effects over at http://www.dynamicdrive.com Find what you want and put the code you find there into a script box.
Problem 3:
I'll let one of the other support people deal with that after you've followed the posting guidelines.
In response to your answer to my first question:
No. It's not the theme. The reason I say this is I thought of that first. And when I changed to the default smf theme...I had the same problem. And it also has nothing to do with child boards, because if you look at the other boards on there with pictures but with no child boards...same problem.
ZarPrime
TomCat,
1.  The first one is a little problematic.  The bold faced part is the board title.  It sounds like what you are trying to do is add some padding before the board titles.  What I would suggest is to ask the designer of the theme what you would have to edit in the theme's index.template.php to put some padding in front of the titles.  It might be easier to put a new property in the theme's style.css file and then associate the titles with that property.  Again, I would ask the designer of the theme what the best way to do that would be.  If you do this, it wouldn't look right to me unless you added pictures (of the same size) to all your board titles.
2.  Then menu looks similar to Demo #3 on this page ...
http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex1/anylinkcss.htm
or maybe this one ...
http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex1/blmmenu/index.htm
or maybe even this one ...
http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex1/ddsmoothmenu.htm
or you could look around there and see if anything else looks like what you want.
3.  This one looks similar to a CatList block except that it includes the extra stuff that's in there, though it might actually just be an article with pictures and links to the various pages that are shown.  Actually, you could just ask the owner of the site how he did it.  Most people will be willing to tell you unless he thinks you might be a competitor.
You misunderstand. It's something that you would have to create in a custom theme. It's not a problem. It may not be what you want, but it is the way SMF was designed to be.
ZarPrime is right on the money.
