ok ...this is how i want to make my forum frontpage look:   http://jokertatpoker.com/forum/

i like the blocks down both sides,and the middle for me to put stuff in ..like the example i left.

so.......say for example i want to make a block called : Cake Poker,and i wanted it to be on the right hand side of my frontpage.with a 125x125 banner in the block,(would i put the html of the banner inside theblock  in the admin panel?)if i knew how to do thia ,i think i may be able to figure out the rest.......

i will take it 1 step at a time...is this a good place to start?

Yes.
We start with panels
Admin/Tinyportal/Block and Panels
On that page you have a menu, click the settings in that menu and you see the panel options.
Activate the right side panel, and check the catbox for where you want the panel to show. In this case you activate frontpage and off on forum index and click save at the bottom.

Then it's the block

A simple html block, created in "blocks and panel"
Admin/TinyPortal/Blocks and Panels /
Create a right side block, choose it to be a HTML and click save.
add your html in that box and click save. Then you have a red dot in the block list ( the whole block page where you see all blocks or where you can put the blocks )
Click that red dot and it will turn green = Activated.
Now look at your frontpage and the block with your code should show up there.

ok ..these are extremely helpful...extremely...2 questions ..how come when i make a block ,..save it ,i dgo to the frontpage to see it and i get this message:     The article isn't active, hasn't been approved yet, or simply does not exist.

Articles must be assigned to a category before they will show.

OMG I MADE 1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.....I made a block AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE.....lol.....yipppppeeeeeeeeeeeeee...it was a practice 1..let me go see if i can make it better now

GEEZ i make 1 block get it at the top of my page.....go to make another block,.......not only did the first 1 that i made disapeear,but some of the blocks that were there when i got the forum are gone.......

wha....  guess im lost again
