Quoteso that what it shows you is more sensible

I don't want it to show me anything. I'm perfectly capable of typing in a URL. And if I don't want to type it in, I'll create a bookmark.

My sentiments exactly.

Now with using it a bit....

personally the only thing I see as an advantage is the memory usage (with multiple tabs open)...the rest of the "new features" SUCK, ) and end up hanging your PC for a bit to adjust...plus alot of my fav addons haven't gotten updated to the new FF

Guess time will tell, but they seem to be bloating a good browser to compete with the rest, which is ridiculous...How many times do true Internet people have to say....NO BLOATWARE...

Might try something else if they are gonna keep this up, seems like they are competing with the slacker MS which holds no ground in my thoughts

Chrome the new FF, I dunno...but they haven't bloated that out yet,,,,

Well my choice is FF2.
I havent read any of the posts on the other pages, just the few above mine.

FF3 seems like they threw a new glossy wrapper, over an old Mars bar.
Sure it offers this n that, but what does it offer, that cannot be provided through FF2?

I admit I havent spent the amount of hours using it as most, so my point of view may change in the future. But for now, FF2 is my main game.

EDIT:  whooa!!  we have an edit bandit!!   pmsl

Both of these options are far less efficient, but if you want to do that, there's no reason why you can't do that and still have the awesome bar there. It won't stop you typing full URLs or using bookmarks.

Anubis, what in FF3 do you consider bloat?

What does it offer? A new Gecko for starters, with such fun things as a native getElementsByClassName and APNG. The non-modal password saver is also more user friendly... it doesn't demand attention, but let you decide at your own pace.

And... FF2 is likely to reach end of life status within a few months so if you want to keep secure you'll need to upgrade.

You think its faster to type than to click? lol Bookmarks will never be replaced by such a feature. Especially for people like me that put multiple bookmarks into a folder. And with one simple middle click all bookmarks in that folder are opened into tabs. There's no way typing in the awesome bar can be as fast as clicking bookmarks.

One of the main reasons I like FF! :)

Typing is faster than the mouse. The only use I see for bookmarks is as you say, opening multiple pages at once. I don't ever use bookmarks for that, and for single pages typing is quicker.

I type with two fingers. Book marks totally rock.  :P

Well, I upgraded to FF3 and it's not too bad. I was able to eliminate the "awesome bar" completely and stop it from telling me what I want before I finish typing it. I've managed to get everything into one toolbar -- navigation, menu, bookmarks, location bar, and search field. My main idea is to put everything I need in as small a space as possible so I can actually see the websites instead of having my screen filled up with browser stuff. There's a couple more things that I need to figure out how to make smaller and then I'll be happy.

I haven't noticed slowness, but I usually have just one window open at a time -- never more than four -- so that may make a difference.

So I guess FF3 is okay, so long as I can get rid of all of it's "nifty" features. :)
