Been away for awhile.

My SMF site with TP using SMF default theme is working well on one of my high traffic sites.

I am using the .98 TP and 1.1.5 SMF.  I don't use all the features of the TP, but I was hoping to apply some of the newer TP features.

Is the new 1.0.5 TP workable with the 1.1.5 SMF?

The site I'n referring to has quite abit of traffic.  I cannot afford to have it down messing with install issues.

If you can think of anything... well I'd appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks

Please take your time and read the stickies and the other posts in the install board.
You have all the info right infront of your eyes there  ;)

basic answers though - yes, it works... but your themes will need a little modification.

No, TP themes from TP V098 will not need any work ;)

All themes ( both pure SMF and old TP converted will work just fine )

Techdomain

thats the properly written ones that need the work :P (like mine - we had a hard coded left bar)

I thought this was the Intstallation board??

I read the stickies before I posted - there appear to be two topics.

I know it gets old answering all the postings.  I sincerely appreciate all the efforts and responses on this forums.  My problem is... when I modify/upgrade a site I have to be extremely careful.  Having a site down for just a few hours can generate some real hostility from users.  So, I do my best to do careful upgrades after hours using the best information I can find.

Not trying to pick on you here, but you would help a great deal more if you simply put up a few links.  A simple ..."hope this helps" with a link or two will endear me to you G6.

You are a friend, thanks

If they get hostile.
Why dont you simply create a testforum ?
Install the new SMF 1.1.5, and then TP V1.0.5 and then your other mods so it become a clone and then just move all the files over and run the database installes from SMF first and then TP.

Takes about 30 min downtime at maximum

I would advise anyone that has a high traffic site to NOT run any beta software if it is that important to you. TP is a beta product, and has been for quite some time. If you are not comfortable using such software on a high traffic site, and are unable to fix things in a timely manner if something goes wrong, I would advise you to leave TP alone.

Ken.

Having a test site is always the best way, you can try out new additions or updates until you get everything working the way you want without having to worry about breaking your live site.

The site is currently running 1.1.5 SMF and TP .983 and works well.

I think I'll leave it alone for now

Thanks for the replys
