You obviously have some problem in what you're installing. I'm going to ask questions that you have already answered, just to get them all answered in the same place so we both know where we stand.

Did SMF work before you installed TP?

What steps did you take in installing TP?

You may need to uninstall TP and try it again, especially if you did a manual install.

dunargo

1. Yes it worked fine.

2. Downloaded the manual install, unpacked it all to my DT. FTP the files from each folder into the already existing ones, moved the stuff that did not exist to the default /forum folder.  Browsed to domain.com/Forum/manual_tp_install.php got the
table structure is now installed/updated page. Then went here and did all this, http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?topic=14195. I Have since went back 8 times and rechecked every line of code. Not saying it isnt possible i missed something but highly doubt it.

It may not be that just because i ran all the same stuff before i am doing something wrong, they have many many many different server clusters and i may have been on one b4 with different settings.

The only thing that I can suggest is that you delete all the TP stuff and do it all over again. Bummer, I know. If you still have the same problem, then you can be more certain that it's not something that you did and is more likely to be your server.

dunargo

Any ideas why it wont let the install run from inside SMF packages?

JPDeni

None. I've never had the problem, myself and I've not been able to find any pattern with those who have had it. It has to be some difference in the server, because the files are all the same, but I don't know what it is on the server that makes the difference.

Another thing I would do is set up a test site and install both SMF and TP from scratch and see what happens. That's another way to know if it's a server problem or a "user" problem. :)

dunargo

Dont know how I would though heh. Dont have anywhere to test it to find out if it as I think there is at least some issue on my hosting lol

IchBin

About a million ideas. Unfortunately, it almost always comes down to a server configuration issue. And those issues are really hard to track down. So we recommend the manual install unless you are willing to change hosts. :)

dunargo

Well does anyone know of a host that offers or matches basically:

5000 megabytes of space
- 100000 megabytes of transfer
- NO setup fees
- 500 pop3 & ftp accounts
- 50 mysql databases
- 30 day no-hassle guarantee
- Unlimited domains

FOr 8.95 a month that you know will do what i need (SMF + TP ) and a tool similar to Direct Admin ( i love it)

I feel a little annoyed and dumb as I told my guild in a game I could get this up and running no problems for them and that those guys were a great host >< :knuppel2:

dunargo

Uggg...

I started fresh wiped and rebuilt the SQL database and deleted everything.... Now I get this:

Warning: require_once(/home/orderoft/domains/orderoftheevenstar.net/public_html/Forums/Sources/TPortal.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/orderoft/domains/orderoftheevenstar.net/public_html/Forums/index.php on line 55

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/home/orderoft/domains/orderoftheevenstar.net/public_html/Forums/Sources/TPortal.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/orderoft/domains/orderoftheevenstar.net/public_html/Forums/index.php on line 55

What did i do this time ><

JPDeni

Reinstall the original SMF files so that there is no reference to TP in any of them.
