SMF 1.1.4
TP 0.9.8
MySQL 5.0.45
php 5.2.5
Windows 2003 R2 Sp2 running IIS

I've spent a few hours searching through the forums here and over on SMF, tried lots of different things but nothing seems to crack this one. I'm building a forum for my 4x4 club, it's all a fresh install with very little config or messing about done so far. I've installed Phobos theme, but that's about it. The problem is I can't add or edit any articles or categories.

Thinking it was a permissions thing I've messed around with all the permissions on the files, even to the point where I gave full control to the web account for every file and folder, it didn't make any difference. Thinking it might be an issue with the theme I've also tried switching back to the default theme, but this made no difference either. I've also tried both FCKeditor and WizzyWig, both result in the same error.

Trying to add a new article results in a long long wait followed eventually by this error:
CGI Timeout
The specified CGI application exceeded the allowed time for processing. The server has deleted the process.

Nothing is logged in the forum error log.

Does anyone have any further suggestions please?

My thoughts are permissions issues with the files and or folders.
Make sure your files have the correct permissions to be read and writable.
It can also be a server issue, and safemod set to on.

Teebags

thanks for the quick reply.

I've tried setting everything on the server to Full Control but this didn't make any difference.

What's safemod?

Zetan

Safemode.. You may need to contact your host and see whether the server is in Safemode.

I think I remember another member having similar problems as you are. He hosts his site too.
He made a change somewhere, and I have no clue who or what he did.

I can only suggest using the search right now. Search within 100 days using the advanced search as I'm pretty sure it wasn't long ago.
It was within the last 3 months.

I've had a look through 9 pages of results searching on "Article" over the last 100 days but didn't find anything. Can you remember any more detail? Forum name or key phrase or something?

Thanks.

They have exellent guides on SMF on how to set up every part of a server, i suggest you go there.

Teebags

Already trawled through SMF's forums. Everything on the forum is working perfectly and I've had other SMF forums working well for a few months now. Pretty much everything else in TP I've played with is working to. It's just adding Articles that's causing a problem.

Sorry to bump a post but I'm getting pretty desperate on this.

I've now built a completely new server with a fresh install of everything and I'm still having the same issue.

I don't wish to sound critical because I'm truly grateful for anyone that can offer advice on this, but every suggestion made so far was already tried before I posted here and I mentioned that in my original post.

Is anybody out there even running the same setup as me? I've looked in detail through the "Windows" section but there isn't really a lot of info there for the new versions.
