I suggest you try google, it's a pure server config issue, and i think the google is the best place for you to find what you need to know.

I'm sorry G6 but I have to respectfully disagree. Every other aspect of the forum is working perfectly, what leads you to believe it's a server configuration issue? This is a fresh install on Server 2003, php, MySQL, SMF and Tinyportal. All configured and doubled checked precisely against the installation instructions.

Why i think it's a server issue is simply because the error you get when you try and add an article.

CGI Timeout
The specified CGI application exceeded the allowed time for processing. The server has deleted the process.

CGI is server side and not SMF or TP.

Also we have seen this before and every time it have ended with that eather the host ( or in your case your own server) had to make changes to the server settings for it to work.

When we ask you to search google is just to get answers we cant give, we are not server people and cannot give all the support on that part of running a forum with a portal system.

The CGI error is a complete red herring. It's not that the CGI engine isn't giving enough time to complete the script, it's that the script is hanging before it finishes. You could set the CGI timeout to a year and a day, the script would still not complete.

My current time out is set to 5 minutes, so tell me, how long does it take to process the "add article" or "add category" script on your server? Keeping in mind this is a brand new server that has nothing better to do all day at the moment except pander to my unreasonable requests to process .php.

This is what leads me to believe it's more likely an issue with the TinyPortal install than anything else. Hence why I keep knocking on the door here hoping someone will answer.

To be brutally honest G6 your thinly veiled sarcasm and reiteration of things I've already said I've tried aren't really helping me and just serve to add to the frustration. I think I'll hold out for someone else who might have some suggestions. Thanks anyway.

Please post me an admin account to your forum and i will take my useless time i put in to help with my lack of knowlage and try to see what you cant get to work.
