Actually there are just as many free softwares for MAC as for PC ( usable softwares).
I have been using mac for over 15 years now so i know the jungle of sites and urls to find them, if you dont believe me, ask Crip as i have given him some great urls to softwares he missed and couldent find.
Mac is safer, but it's not bullitproof, there are trojans and virus that really make a mess of a MAC just like a PC, but MAC have the best restore function ever, so it's more or less just to reeboot to the last working point and everything is back to the sec before the virus or threat hit it.

id like to get a better laptop.. but im not too sure on the mac's, no offense to all mac users..  ;) but i would like linux to try out.. as most severs use some form of it.. it would be a change from mircosoft, that's for sure :D

G6Cad

If you want to try Linux, you can google on UBUNTU and check it out.
I have seen it in the works and i must say that it seem to be working great and pretty much like a windows enviroment.
IchBin knows a great deal of linux to, so im sure he can help you with tips on what to use and how to.
(remember this is tinyportal support though, not linux ;) )

Lesmond

I you have never tried Linux before, here is a good way to try it out, http://www.frozentech.com/content/livecd.php this is a list of boot CD's you can try out, all you do is put it on a cd and you dont have to load anything on your pc

Smoky

lol yep G6, i know.. i have a few linux people on my site.. the differences in the bugs and what not just really amaze me and for the fact that people create them out of ummm well insert word here: ___. lol..

i just cant wait to get my burner in, so i can be back up.. im really missing out and missing my prgrams, hate to be useless.. but its ok, maybe i needed a break anyway, and its a good way to read up on all the tp here, so i can get some new ideas with what i want to do next, and boy am i getting some..  ;)

kewl lesmond, will keep that link for sure.. i tried ubuntu once, but it didnt recognize my sounds so.. but i think im ready.. for a pc with ubuntu on it, no monitor for 299.00.. more features than this laptop i have, but no monitor.. but im a laptop person.. i like to be portable.. if i want to take it in my backyard or driving down the road.. its nice.. hmm, is there a mod for widgets for the antivirus software.. i ran across one on trend, might be a good thing to have..

Heavy Duty Linux support can be found HERE.

And... the tip by Lesmondâ,,¢ is an outstanding way to play with the Linux OS to see if you like it. There are lots of different releases of Linux by various groups, the one G6 mentioned is a nice one.

Here's the one I like best:
