Hello, i don't know if this is a problem but i wanna make sure before i finish building the site.
The problem is that i wanted to install a flashclock. I had to upload the clock file in to the forum directory. Now i can't find the forum directory, not even find TP there. It seems that everything is installed in public_html.
There i find:
  -AplosRTE
  -attachments
  -avaters
  -cgi-bin
  -Packages
  -Smileys
  -Sources
  -Themes

Is there something wrong here? If not, where should i upload the clock file then?

Can somebody please tell me before i finish my website, so that i not have to start all over again.

Much appreciated.

Regards,

whoesa

Your form needs to be in it's own Directory for everything to work.

Hello,

Ok can u tell exactly how to do that please. I just started 1 day ago and i don't want to mess everything up by doiing wrong things, if u understand.

Do i need the delete everything and start all over again?

That would be the easiest way..

then re-upload everything in a folder/directory named "[forum]" everthing goes in this directory..

Ok thank you , i will see what i can do.

Is it normal that the TP folder is called AplosRTE?

There is no actual TP folder. And if you are wanting TP to be the core of you site, then you do not want to put everything in a separate folder, you will want it on the root of you website.

Of the folders you listed, here are what they are for:

  • AplosRTE - While TP installs this folder, this is not the "TP Folder". This folder contains the wysiwyg editor that is used in writing articles.
  • attachments - When you attach a file to a forum post, this is folder that it get uploaded to.
  • avaters - This is where the avatars are found. Those little images folks can place in their user informatio.
  • cgi-bin - This must have been provided by your host, as it is not part of the forums or TP.
  • Packages - When you upload a Mod package, this is where it is placed.
  • Smileys - All those little smiley faces that you see on the post form are found here.
  • Sources - These are the workhorse files of the forums. When you installed TinyPortal, it installed several files here.
  • Themes - The files in this folder and its sub-folders are what determines the look of your forum. TP also installs files into the subfolder of the theme you are using.

Now, if your root folder on your host is called httpdocs, then your directory structure would look something like this:

httpdocs
  |-AplosRTE
  |-attachments
  |-avaters
  |-cgi-bin
  |-Packages
  |-Smileys
  |-Sources
  |-Themes

In such a case, your "forum" folder would be the httpdocs folder itself. Thus, you would upload the flashclock to httpdocs.

Your Forum Directory should go here "(/public_html/forum)"

inside the "(forum)" in everything else.

Yes, if he were adding the forum to an existing website, that would be the place to put it.

However, if he wants to make TinyPortal (and the forums) his home page, then he may want to place it on the root of his webspace rather than in a sub-folder. At least that is what it sounded like he was attempting to do from the first post.

Of course, he could still put it in a [forum] folder, and then just do a simple redirect page to the forums in his root directory. :)

Hello,

Yes i wanted to make TP and SMF my homepage. Im not sure what u mean by httpdocs.
AplosRTE,attachments,avaters,cgi-bin,... are all in public_html.

Now i was trying to install a flashclock i found here:
   http://www.tinyportal.net/smf/index.php?topic=738.0

I tryed everything i could but i can't see a clock and the page loads very difficult.
Made a javascript/html block and i put that code in and i uploaded the file flashclock in public_html.  Then i changed that code /forum/clocks/amber.swf to public_html/flashclock/clock.swf.

So i did all that but i can't see a clock. Am i doiing the wrong things here?
Can somebody explain me what i did wrong and how it suppost to be done?

Thank you,  whoesa

Does that make any more sense?

Ok..I see, he wants it all as his Homepage.. like: www.mysite.com/index.php .. I'm really not sure how, but I'm sure it can be done; cuz I've actually saw forums liike that..
