When I go into manage articles and click "add" so I can add a new one, the only way for me to alter the settings is to type in everything I need, save it.  And then edit it, click edit the visual options, and then add the comment box, take off the top blocks when the article is displayed..etc...

How can I set up some default settings for any articles I make, and then if I need to change one as a special circumstance I can?

Thanks in advance

At this time (and proably in future releases) this will be how you have to go with the articles.
There is no way to make a "default" article at this time.

I have the same question so I will add it here.

How are the default check boxes added in then? There has to be a place the script that enters "checks" in the boxes that are checked by default. i.e.

...this is default.

So how does it fill some of those boxes and not the others. I Imagine it could be changed in the script.

And the data entry box could have something in it as default if you entered it into the script as well?   ...i.e. Hack the script for a global change.

I really don't know, but I think it should be possible to work around the problem. Anyone have more info?

As requested for a feature in the bug tracker... here

Would be cool to see this in TP 1.0!

You dont put feature requersts in the bugtracker, the bug tracker is for bug and bugs only.
Requests are posted in the development request board.

For clarification, what is this for?

Reading the graphic, it says ' In this section you can report any bugs you find in TinyPortal, as well as enhancement/bugfixes you might have.'

I also see that some of my feature requests have been marked closed now...

You can do it now, but you have to be confident in editing files. Open TPortalAdmin.php (in your Sources folder) and search for

// article

Find the line below that

$artoptions = 'date,title,author,linktree,top,cblock,rblock,lblock,views,rating,ratingallow';

It's pretty clear which of these goes with which options. Others are

Show all articles in same category = category
Show links to other categories = catlist
Show comments underneath article = comments
Allow to comment? = commentallow
Do not collapse comments initially = commentupshrink

Be careful to follow the pattern already there. If you do it wrong, the file will crash.
