BTW, as far as showing the attack seqeunce...

When you attack someone, it would create a post (not topic) showing the whole battle decription based on a random hit/miss system. Each successful attack would show one of four possible descriptions.

Example:

QuoteXarcell attacks Bloc and misses...

Bloc attacks Xarcell and hits, slashing his chest open with his sword.

Xarcell attacks Bloc and misses...

Bloc attacks Xarcell and misses...

Xarcell attacks Bloc and hits, mashing his head in with his mace. Bloc is bleeding all over the place.

Bloc attacks Xarcell and misses...

Xarcell attacks Bloc and hits, crushing his chest with his mace. Bloc falls to his knees in defeat.

Hail Xarcell!

Random hit and miss system, using stats from the weapon vs armor use. Also, you may have noticed that it goes back and forth on who attacks. Once a person's health reached zero, they fell to their knees in defeat(not actually killing). This way, people could go back about their business without being penalized. We wouldn't want bullies...

So when a weapon is created, 4 random descriptions of a successful hit comes with it, for the sake of effect. Makes a nice read sometimes. Fancier weapons have more dramatic descriptions.

All this could be done from just creating 2 items for Daniel's shop. From their, an admin can alter the files and add the item creating various weapons and armor.

weapon vs armor use

GREAT idea, they dont have that in the ipb version, the ability to have armor to increase your HP....

That would be awesome, we should gather some idears to completely refine this, I want to see how far Dragooon has gone with this...

One thing I have trouble with calculating (I am an Electrical Engineer, I love numbers lol) is how to have a distinction between say a level 40 attacking say a level 200

No matter what it should have a scaling factor for the damage inflicted if the lower level hits an upper level

In addition in the IPB model, the if a person is fragged (killed) then they auto-renew (HP and STR) in 1 hour

I can tell you from my experience with this "game" it is addicting, especially when "Guild Wars" begin and other contests, which make the game very enticing...

Bloc, if you want a good example of the game...I have a site you should join and check out to give you an idea of their system, and get ideas of how to change it up ;)

Xarcell,

Some of your ideas on your first post are great, one that I want to contend is if the person you are attacking is online thats the only time you can attack...reason for this is many forums will only have a couple of ppl online at a time, which can make a target list very low....In addition it is alway fun to come back later and see that someone killed you and get your revenge...

And I see alot of members, at least on my site, that don't like to post...but that would probably spend alot of time playing this game

I think that if we all put our heads together this could be awesome!!!

bloc

I think I need to try this somehow lol, to get a good grip of what it does/supposed to do.If you have some testings grounds I like to try it.

As far as using forum and shop mods..if Daniels shop is adequate one might use that. But seeing as this module will be dependant on TP, it might be too much to also depend on another mod for it to work. It should be complete imho. I have some experience in creating shop fucntions too, so it would not be a problem as such.

Using forums for messages sounds good...is that what the IPB  version does?

Dragooon

I've been doing this as a paid job for someone, which later I'll have the rights to put it up for sale(Once it is done and is tested).

Mine basically uses posts as battle ground, it has shop/item system(There are moves, characters and potions planned ATM). Its primary aim is to increase forum activity,

bloc

ah, ok Dragooon. :) I aim for it to be free though...so just taking in what I can of info.

Jokey

Now this sounds really interesting!! Maybe when you guys are done, you could make it somewhat easy to customize ..... then I could Smurf it up! LOL!!  :2funny: My members would have a ball "attacking" each other and stuff!

:D

I'm going to add my girlish opinion. Maybe it's unneeded but I'd like to see something a little less like table-top games for an rpg module. Since my forum is an anime/manga based forum, some of the little ones that are used to just writing out their battles and then whoever has the most skill at writing wins, might be confused and a bit unfulfilled by a random generator that just determines the win. But if there is a generator, the ability to turn it on or off would be nice. And perhaps make it a type of board with the administrator's permission to only make some type of boards "randomized battle boards".

I, for one, need an easy to customize form that let's you make and maintain character sheets. I've gotten that with the Custom Form Mod by LHVWB. It's pretty easy to use. I use Dragoon's TP Glossary Module for any info to store about the game, setting, rules, etc. It's a lot easier than using the custom action mod. I use the Eliana Mod to modify karma and up them by points when people post. Because with my rpg, it's about increasing forum activity like Dragoon mentioned previously, using posts as battlegrounds. I use JovanT's custom profile mod as well, for further customization (like adding friends) but an enemies feature would be really cool.

But other than those  mods, I don't have much of anything else dictating my rpg. I think the only real problem I have as an rpg administrator would be grouping people into teams and let them have a banner and a moderator (leader) controlling the team (like who joins and who doesn't). The HP idea earlier mentioned was really good. But I don't think a lot of kids nowadays get the dice. So without dice, maybe a system that goes by how many characters or words you've posted converts to HP or Skill points, karma or whatever someone would like to call it. And they can use it for items or perhaps buy their way into other groups or to higher levels.

But this is just my opinion. If an rpg mod is made, I'd love to see it full customizable.

ianus

Maybe a simple Chat-Box could be a good start, if it has an integrated dice roller.
As an example: When I use the chat as ianus and hit the dice-roller, the result should be displayed next to my nickname.

In general, I would like to see some kind of RPG mod.
