Hey,
I'm trying to install new themes for the SMF 1.1 RC1. with TinyPortal v.0.7.4
on a winxp pro machine.
Tp and smf works fine as long as i don't tuch the themes.
as soon as i'm trying to install other themes such themis11rc1 and others from the site it will only give me the news when i click the home and also No T/P interface.
as soon as i'm going back to the Simple machines defualt it works alright.

thanks for helping

That sounds strange..is it on a local server then? ...Which one?

ncaridi

yes local server .
with windows IIS 5.1. and php support added. not sure about the php version 'cos i had to play with it a couple of times untill i got it working but i think it's the 5.05 .
but if the defualt form works.
also when i create a diffrent theme from a file it will extract the files to a new folder but when i looked into it it wouldn't copy the files from the default directory. and it should right ?

thanks for helping

Yes, it should...I am not too familiar with IIS though, so it might be something in the setup for that. What I have no clue unfortunelately.

I rather use EasyPHP, which setups and runs PHP 4/5 with mysql++ on windows98/2000/XP. Well worth doing if you are using it regularly.

I picked neptune as the theme I wanted, updloaded the files then installed it.

I get the similar problems!  a bunch of the boxes disappeared and I don't have a forum button or tpadmin button.  Only way to change the theme back to smf default is by using the admin button and going to themes and layout.

Here's what the server, that my site is hosted on, is running

Version Information:
Forum version: SMF 1.1 RC1 (more detailed)
Current SMF version: SMF 1.1 RC1
PHP version: 4.4.0
MySQL version: 4.0.22
Server version: Apache/1.3.32 (Unix) mod_gzip/1.3.26.1a PHP/4.4.0 mod_ssl/2.8.21 OpenSSL/0.9.7d
GD version: bundled (2.0.28 compatible)

You uploaded the files?? should be only one file to install in the themes part -- also sometimes I just make a dir for the new theme in the themes dir and copy all the files to that dir then install the theme from that dir -- works rather good -- hope this helps some

Ya to clarfiy, I create a 'neptune' folder in my themes directory of smf, upload all the files into that directory, then goto smf and install the theme by pointing to \themes\neptune folder

Ray

umm that should work -- have you tried to install it has
New Theme
From a file:

just using the file and let smf do the coping to the theme folder??

just did that now and nothing copied over.  The folder got created called "theme-info" (because of the name of the xml I guess) and there's nothing in it!

Copying the files into the empty directory gives me the same results, no forum button, no tpadmin, only user, search and stats box shows up on the left side.
