OK, thanks I will give it a go. Do you think I should install TP v0.9.8 in SMF 1.1.5 or 6?

Does the TP shoutbox come as standard with TP as I'm sure it was built into an older forum I put together as standard?

DonaldDasher

ps - do I leave all the existing files there, or delete them all first - can you point me in the direction of a guide for doing this? Thanks in advance :)

I'm not using the latest version on my site. my version is: TinyPortal v1.0.5 © Bloc, yours is beta 1 I think. I haven't updated for a while because I've had no internet at home and my site is closed at the mo, I don't have any problems with the articles. Bloc did just mention that this bug has surfaced again.

Its sorted now, but it annoying to have issues keep coming back every 3-4 months or so.

TP 0.9.8 is the last version prior to the major update of TP 1.X.X.
0.9.8 is a stable version with no bugs, or none that I know of.
It does have a Shoutbox as a Block option. It doesn't have the Advanced Shoutbox with the smilies which is now a module.

I have SMF 1.1.6 on my site and have no problems with it.

There are guides, many topics here and guides and topics at SMF, I would back up the site first, entirely from the cPanel. Then upload the files replacing those that are already there. Have a look through SMFs docs: http://docs.simplemachines.org/

I'm trying to do a re-install but the installer is detecting a forum already installed and suggests I run an upgrader instead.

Any suggestions? What would happen if I simply delete all the existing files? I'm sure this would be my best option.

As long as you dont touch the database you can remove all the forum files with out damage the content of the forum.
You will however have to reinstall the mods you had because you replace the old files with fresh ones.

DonaldDasher

I've replaced all the original files with a fresh download, but the installer won't allow me to run the install. I'm stuck!

G6Cad

The install.php is not what you use, you have to use the upgrade.php ( from the upgrade package )

DonaldDasher

Doh! OK, thanks - am now overwriting with the upgrade package.

OK, I've re-installed SMF 1.1.6 and I'm now trying to instal TP_0983.zip but I'm getting this error:

QuoteThe package you are trying to download or install is either corrupt or not compatible with this version of SMF.

Do I need to remove the old TP files first?

Any suggestions most welcome ;)

Check the sticky topic in the install board, IchBin have posted a fix package there.
