Articles and Categories question

I've set up some categories but for some reason, when I try to select a category for the article it's not displaying - all I'm getting as an option is "Portal Features" and none of the Categories I have created are a selectable option. Any suggestions?

The Categories have viewing permissions and the Articles in those Categories inherit the Category permissions.

Please also read the posting guide. When opening a new topic for support, there are some requirements in the template provided in the posting guide.

I'm not exactly sure what problem you are having.

Which screen are you looking at, can you post a screenshot, there are several Admin screens related to Articles and Categories.

Can you create a new category for me, "Site Features" for example and try and use that, instead of the one that is packaged as default?

Remember to put the articles in that category and set the member viewing permissions.

Just tried that and again, it's not showing up as a selectable Article category option even though I've toggled all Access Options to "On".

I've moved all Articles to "not assigned", deleted the Default "Portal Features" and "Site Features" Categories and created a new "Site Features" Category. I'm still unable to assign any Articles to any Categories.

Looking briefly through the Error Log under Forum Maintenance, I see a lot of errors there:

tp-addcaegoryinfo ?? That doesn't look right for a start, there is a missing 't'.

Creating a new BBC test article and attempting to select any Category from the drop menu at the bottom of the edit screen displays "not assigned" and thats it.. "Site Features" or any of the other categories are not listed as an option to select.


Have you ever been able to assign Articles to Categories? I'm certain at this point that there is a fault and suggest that you go through the Manual Install Guide and check that TP is installed correctly.


I also turned off the Article WYSIWYG editor, you'll need to turn it back on.

No, I've only recently attempted to set up Articles and Categories.

I was afraid you'd say there was a problem of some sort. Is the manual Install easy to do?

It's strange as everything else seems to be OK.
