Hey all.    Since this has to do with SMF I posted first at the SMF site, but as you know sometimes they don't reply .  :)     I have read and learned alot from this site and I thought that I would post my question here.   If it isn't in the right board, please move for me.

I am running SMF 1.1rc2 and TP .9.5.   Anyway, for a long time now when you click on a topic, board whatever link it sometimes takes you to a white blank screen and you have to hit refresh to get it to load right.    Have any of you seen this?  And if so, did you fix it and how?    Yes, I have quite a few mods installed but if my memory serves me right, it has been doing this for quite sometime.   Anyway, if someone has encountered this problem before and fixed it, please tell me what you did..   Thanks for your time.

I've never seen that before myself. Do you get any errors in your log? I would maybe setup a test install on the same server and see if it does the same thing while browsing through it.

I get these all the time, just thought they might be "normal"  LOL

Notice they all say line 540 and in different ???.english.php files.   Also, it happens to every member and guests.   Does this look bad?   LOL      Thanks for your help.

IchBin

They aren't normal lol. I guess it could be that the error access the database to store the errors. Are you getting a ton of errors/pages? The errors you showed are probably from one of the mods that you have installed. Hard to say exactly what though.

keith021773

Yes..  alot of errors..     How is it that they are all on line 540?  and how do I find line 540?   This has to be worked out because it is bugging the crap out of me.   LOL

Those are all language strings errors from diffrent mods installed :)
Look in your modsettings.engligh.php and see if you have the strings there for the mods you have installed, if it it doesent have files in it, maby check the mods you have installed (XML or MOD files) and look for what code the mod add strings to that file, and then copy them in to the modesttings.english.php manually :)

Boy of boy that will take awhile.   LOL   I don't think it was always like that.    Hmm..   Mrs. G6, do you think that TP would've done that?  If you can remember, you helped me get TP blocks working with my blue theme.    So, do you think that is it?

G6Cad

I know TP are not the cause, What other mods do you have installed ?

keith021773

And i thought my head was a mess.......

Well, now you will have some work ahead of you ;)

Download all the mods to your local PC from the modsites you got them from.
Open them up one by one, look in the XML file or the MOD file in the package, Look for what code the mod want to add in the modesettings.english.php, and then add that code manually to your modsettings.english.php file in your Themes/Default/language folder.

Then when you have checked all the mods through, Look in the other themes/language/ you have installed and copy over the file from the default theme and you shoul be good :)

Wee you in a week when you are done  :D
