Would anybody happen to know if its possible to make a board viewable to the public (guests) so they can read the posts but only allow members to post the topics?
I dont want this for the whole forum, just a few selctive boards.

Sorry if this has been discussed before, I wasn't able to find it in a search.

This is a SMF related question and you should please adress "general board functions" questions on http://simplemachnes.org

However since you have asked here is the answer:

Go to Admin --- > Permissions ----> Modify (guests)

And set it so that they cannot in the boards

--------------------------------------------

Also one other thing:

If you want PER BOARD settings, then go to :

Admin ---> Permissions ---> Settings ---> Enable advanced by-board permissions

and then you can set permissions per board for each membergroup

no problem - dont mind it, but its just that lately a lot of people are asking gneral SMF questions here as well and it can get hectic for all of us here to answer everything

When making a new board, you can also select to make it read only (you can do this in admin by modifying the board as well).

When doing that, you can post to it as admin, but others cannot.
