I think it would be nice to be able to set an article as featured in EVERY category an admin creates.

To support my suggestion i shall bring you an example from my personal experience.

I run a website containing many news categories. I allow users to post articles. Now, each cat has a different subject and that, somehow, forces the user to change the way and style of his writing according to what he wishes to post. Thus, it would be very useful for me to be able to set an asticle as featured in EVERY category to give the user instructions about posting an article targetting that category. It would also be good, if the user could choose the category to post his article to. Less work for the admins approving articles!

So far, that's it...

Good Idea, but I dunno how one could implement this.

examino

Yeah! I haven't thought that through! It should be hard!  :(

I'm sure it can be done.

But what about displaying it on the index page. You want a featured article for every catagory? That kinda beats the purpose of "featured" in a display sense.

Can't you just select "show on frontpage" on the articles you want to feature?

I'm confused at what your aiming at.

However, if I were too look at a catagory listing, it would be cool to see a featured article for each catagory listing as you said. But on the frontpage I would just option it to show on frontpage.

I think there would be a difference between featured on frontpage, and featured in a category.

I agree...

Yes. It would be really great and extremely useful i believe, if someone could set an article featured in every category he/she creates. Apart from the frontpage featured article. It's not about how can i do what i want (that is describing each category content [e.g. Banking News] with a featured article inside it)... I already figured out another way. But i' m sure a lot of people would find this useful. It adds some potential. If combined with an extra option of user choosing the category he wants to submit an article to, according to related content... Get the idea?

Are you sure it's not possible in anyway?

If we separate featured on frontpage with featured in a category, at least two things could be done: 1.) the featured coming first in the category 2.) the frontpage showing only all "featured" in categories for example.

Sounds like a good extension of articles/categories.

It could be just an option for people need to use it. Not set like that by default...

And yes... It really sounds great!!!  ;)

bloc

No, thats implicit. It would be extra options.
