hi

I'm admin from http://portaldafisica.net, we use Smf 1.1RC3+tp 0.95 and i really like this script, tp all those thinks, and you guys are doing a nice job, congrats.

But now i have one problem, regularly i need send mails to People, notifications of topics and so on, but not everybody needs to read those mails.
I need a kind of group system like in phpbb where everymember can choose their group to receive mails and news about that group.

For example we are an website of physics students and we also have professors in the website. At this moment when i announce some new, like a party, just to students i don't want to send it to professors, it will be like spam in their webmail which is boring, but because no one can choose their group i need to send to all groups, included those who are defined by the number of messages and in those groups there are all the people and i cant choose between professors and students.

there any plans to solve my problem? its boring u know  :-\

sorry my limited English, for that i say sorry, i hope someone could understand.  :uglystupid2:

This is not something Tp handle at all.
You need to go to SMF forums and ask this, as all of the forum function and boards goes from their support and not TP.
So browse to SMF and ask this in their support forum, or search th boards, im sure there are answers there on this already :)

gerrymo

Why dont you just create Membergroups in the admin section for Students, Professors, Staff, etc, and use that? When you announce a topic, you are sent to a page where you can choose which membergroups to send it to. It's already a feature of SMF.

i think there is a mod available on smf which allows you to assign membergroup changing permissions to members

just search around and ull find it

but one word of advice...thats a big power to give to users, one bad person could mess up the whole things

akma

Thanks akulion and gerrymo.

gerrymo, because what i want is that each member could choose between some groups and join those groups, i don't want stay the rest of my life put members on groups...

and i would like to have groups where every member could choose beetween (students and professors) and other groups where there inst this options like (staff, mod and admins), so in this way no one will mess anything because there inst anything to mess around, and the main difference between groups would be the news they get.
students will only get news to students, and prof only news to profs.
