joomla components - looking for alternatives that would work with TP

sorry for more questions.  I posted already that I am thinking of swapping joomla for TP (again)

but there are a few features we use on joomla and I dont know if we can replicate them on TP

I am just about to check SMF again to see if I've missed any new mods that might help but here are the things that we really would miss:

REVIEW COMPONENT
this component allows you to write customised reviews and rate them. Other people can read your review and then add a rating.  We use this for movie reviews mainly, rather than post them all on a board. It's a nice feature and had photos too.  And a module that displayed latest or highest rated reviews.

MARKETPLACE
this is a classified ads feature that is fully customisable.  We use it for buy/sell/swap all kinds of things between members, I had a feeling I saw something about a mod on SMF so I will check again

COOKBOOK

I know you dont have a lot of modules available yet but maybe these would be good to consider, or if anyone knew of another way of achieving the same end result I would love to hear it?

REVIEW COMPONENT --> you can use articles in TP , they allow ratings

MARKETPLACE --> this is being worked on by one of the team, however you can still use any other market place scripts by using IFrames or calling them in a PHP block by a PHP include command...

COOKBOOK ---> Again same as above, as long as the script is based on PHP you can give an 'include' command to call it OR you can use IFrames

But in specific I would like to point out that TP is NOT a portal but is a MOD itself for SMF which extends its capabilities. So you can pretty much use it to extend for anything you want using a multitude of methods.

I know TP is not a portal, I did have it earlier this year but it sort of gives the same effect except that everything revolves around the SMF forum whereas with joomla the SMF forum is just treated like any other 'component'

The forum is still the bread and butter of our site and the bulk of people go there before they even consider any other features.  In that respect TP would be 'easier' for them to get their heads around than 'leaving' the forum to go elsewhere on the site.

That's why I was wondering if perhaps doing it this way would encourage more users to do more than just post on the board.  Also there are a lot less/or no compatibility issues which is certainly not the case with joomla.  It's very nice but the number of times I have to update/upgrade/fix things to make it all run smoothly is getting beyond a joke.

So I think it's time to give up, I spend all my online time fixing stuff and updating, and barely any time to play on the site.

When we were discussing it with the mods, we dont remember having any such problems using tiny portal, but we were interested in adding a lot more content to the site and that seemed to be the way to go then.
