Ok..  I have done alot of reading on here and I can't seem to find the answer.

I use the Dark Blue theme.   All it changes from the normal default theme that comes with SMF is the colors.   I just installed TP and I can't get the sidebars or center bar to work..     I was hopeing since this theme is really just a color change theme that I could add some code to have all 3 bars working.   Please tell me this is the case.

Thanks.

You have to use a TP enabled theme if you have TP installed, you wont get the tp sidebars to show in a non tp enabled theme

So, I guess it's safe to say that even the default theme that comes with SMF won't display sidebars?

And if this is true, I have to change to a theme that is supported by TP and then I have to reconfigure all of my mods to work with the new theme?

Thanks again.

The SMF default should show the sidebars if the TP installed correct.
I assume you did have the forum set to SMF default when you installed TP ?

I also see you have some other mods installed there to, admanager for one ?
Did you get any errors when you installed TinyPortal?

The forum is set to default which is Dark Blue theme.   And yes it was the default when I installed TP.   Like I said about Dark Blue.   All that is different between it and the SMF default when installed is just the color scheme.

Yes.  Admanager is one and I did get an error in the index.template.php.   So, what I did was make a backup of the original before I installed TP and if it didn't work I was gonna put the backup back in place.    I hope this answers your questions..   And hopefully it sounds like all I need to do is add some code to the index.template.php file.

Yes thank you, some things got clearer now :)

If you look at the tinyportal package files, you have a file in there with the ending .XML
Open that with a texteditor or similar, look through the file and check what code you have to add in your index.template.php and add that in manually to your index.template.php (you should have known this allready if you read the documentation "if you get errors, DONT proceeed if you dont know what you are doing" )  ;D

Put the code needed for TP to work in your index.template.php manually and i think you will get it to work

The default theme that is modified by mods is the SMF default theme, which is not necessarily the forum default theme. If you have installed one of the different colour variations of SMF and set that as your default theme you will not see Tiny Portal. If you switch to SMF default you will see the sidebars.

To convert the Dark Blue theme to Tiny Portal:

Unzip the file to a folder. Copy the index.templateÃ,  from the default theme and overwrite the Dark Blue theme index.template (or if you wnt to be careful, rename the Dark Blue index.template before you upload the one from the default index template. Then go to the default images folder and upload all of the additional TP images to your Dark Blue theme folder.

PS I have many of these myself and have to do this regularly to test things.

Thanks for all the help guys..   Allmost everything in TP is working with my Dark Blue theme except the sidebars.   I have looked through my index.template.php file and most of the code is in there.    ::)   I have tried to put the rest of the code in, but I can't find where it goes.   I'm using a very modified file (I have lots of mods installed)

I am gonna post my index.template.php file.  You guys don't have to help me, I'm sure you, like me, don't have alot of time.   And believe me, I have 3 young kids and work nights so there isn't alot of time for me..    But if someone does have time, I would sincerely appreicate it..    Thanks.

I cant promisse this will work, your admanager code is really messing up right in the middle there.
But try this one
