A small suggestion to the TP team

You all have been so good about answering questions posted by me and by others, but I have a suggestion which might make life just a bit easier for you and for all of us.

Check the links in your signature, especially the ones that point to topics about installation. I know that at least three of the support folks here have links in their signatures to boards or topics about installation that are off-limits to those of us who are not part of the team. I know that you probably don't think about it because you can see it and it's hard to know whether someone else can.

Here's my suggestion. Log out of the board and come back as a "guest." Find a post that you have made and click on the links in your signature. If you get a "you aren't supposed to be here" (or whatever it says) message, you'll know that your link isn't doing much good for anyone who isn't a member of the support team and you might think about changing it, or, if there isn't a topic that is available to all of us, deleting it.

It's frustrating to see that information seems to be available, but then to be told that it's off-limits. It can make folks feel unwelcome when they are told they don't have access to the information they need, while at the same time they are told to get the information on their own.

Alternatively, maybe those topics could be made available to the general public.  :)

This isn't meant to be confrontive or anything. It just might help a little bit.

I can understand that hun, I tried to keep mine simple and related to stuff I do that is viewable by everyone. But yes support link in sigs should be indeed viewable by all including guests if they are gonna use "support links"

Im sure that folks will sort this out as quickly as they can as you may have noticed Bloc's team has been doing alot of reorganizing lately to make things easier for everyone so just be patient on it.

The only reason I mentioned it -- and I ought to have said this in my first post -- is that I'm sure that they are unaware that the things they're linking to aren't available. I know that nobody here would intentionally make other people feel unwelcome.

I'm perfectly happy to be patient :) . I know things take time to do and this is going to likely not be on the top of the priority list. I just wanted to give a gentle nudge.

Thanks for telling us. :)

I wasn't aware that they could be off-limits. You're right. I'd say that needs to be changed.

However, there is the "Documentation" link at the top. It's available for everyone ("Guest" and "Newbie") in the default theme (Bz11). That's where all the organized and specific documentation is.

I know that 2 of my links in my signature is off limits to guests, but that is because the themes and the download section is off limits to guests, so you need to be registerd and logged in to be able to download any of the themes or any content in the download section of this forum.
But still a good suggestion JPDeni :)
