Not sure were to post this... well here goes,

My forum is in bad shape....http://forum.sirfanaticsholland.com/
when i try to connect to the forum is sometimes displays the index.php (after a while, it takes to long!), well that's ok.
Then when i click on a link, topic or whatever it says that "the page could not be displayed" or: "Connection Problems
Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later."
I even got a mail from my forum saying that it has a database error.

I have this problem for 1 week now, i did'nt change anything whatsoever.
The only thing i did do was registering a new member.

My server Host (Lycos  >:( ) made an anouncement about server maintenance on wednesday 7 september.
wel the 8th i still had the problems, so i called them.
The said it would take longer then expected, they would be finished on the 9th of september (in the afternoon)

Well i don't know if they are finished or not, but it still does'nt work!!
Oh yeah, my normal HTML site www.sirfanaticsholland.com worked like a charmduring the whole week! but it's running on the same server.

Does anyone here have a explanation for my problems?
any help is welcome  :-\

I would assume php/mysql is not working - since the html site does work.

The link is not working now, so i can't really tell either way.

EDIT/

Ah, i get a template error now. That means PHP and Mysql is indeed working. But it seems something is wrong with the theme files. If you have ftp info I can take a quick look for you.

Solved. It was a missing } that caused it to stop. You might want to set a width in tpadmin for the forum now..I think its set to 110 or something.. ;D.

Thanks for the help Bloc but the forum still does'nt work properly....
it's still showing "can't display this page" from time to times.
It's better though, but i think the problem is somewhere in the database..

I just got this mail: SMF Database error!
There has been a problem with the database!
MySQL reported:

You need to check the database then..maybe repair tables or at least check them. Do you have phpMyadmin on your site?

Yes i have phpMyadmin. i already checked the boards it said they were fine.
... just wondering, is it possible to do a fresh install of the forum and later import the messages and boards????

If you simply take backup of all, upload a fresh install of the SMF files , upload your backup Settings.php you should have the same forum, but with new(er) SMF files. Any mod will have to be installed again of course.
