New to this - Some questions

Hi, I am new to this and there is a lot of stuff that I have not figured out yet.

One thing I am wondering is how to still have a forum available. After installing TinyPortal, I do not see my forum anymore.

Also, I've been having some problems. For example, when I first go to my site it looks fine. But when I login, a lot of stuff disappears... basically everything except the middle box.


If anyone has AIM/MSN/ICQ/Yahoo and would like to help me out, I'd apreciate that as well. Thanks.

A link would help.

You should normally see one more link "Forum" in main menu. "Home" leads now to frontpage.

If you had another theme as default this link will not be displayed as well as blocks. You may have a non TP theme selected in your profile, so when you login you loose TP and you see only what the selected theme permits to. Check it in your profile.

You can always access your forum with [SMF URL]/index.php?action=forum

I have another question...

If I have a "Downloads" section... Is it possible to have the files themselves displayed to everyone, but only downloadable when a person has a certain amount of posts in the forum?

No, permissions cannot apply to message number related membergroups.

Can I make it so people can see the files, but can't download them?

No, if you give access for a category you give in the same time download rights (also upload, if given by group permissions).
