Is there a way to limit the amount of PM's that members can send? My whole site just got spammed by someone who joined up and then sent a PM to everyone...

any Ideas would be great!

WSA

Not sure.  I know that you can place a limit on how many messages somebody can have in their PM section.

I think I have seen that too where it states a max limit of people you can PM per email and then it has a time limit between PM's.

Let me look for it.

What about a way to disable pms until they have reached a certain post count???

akulion

i had the same problem about a few months back - people from other forums joining up and excessively advertising via PM

IF its a human...its simple: Just restrict the PM limit to 1 person at a time

IF its a bot...then just follow what HaxXor said..even a small limit like 5 posts will work :) and at the same time not discourage users

Techdomain

how can you restrict pm to one person at a time? that is what I want to do...

HaxXxor - that is what I will do if no other solution can be found...

akulion

go to the admin panel

then to features and settings

right at the bottom is this setting:
Maximum number of recipients allowed in a personal message.

set it to 1

That way a user can only PM 1 person at a time making it more tiresome for them to spam

Techdomain

duh... found it in features and options. just lost my head a bit when I got the spam.

cheers for the help all

i would still like to know if it is possible to stop ppl with a 0 post count from using the PM system?

Techdomain

thanks akulion! found it when I sat down and put my thinking cap on!

for that you will have to restrict the membergroup "Newbies" to not allowed to send PMs
