Edit or delete parent categories

Not sure if this is a bug/not implemented thing or I'm doing (or not doing) something wrong.

1. I create parent categories.
2. Next, create subcategories (with articles)
3. Next, delete parent categories.
(Subcategories becomes parent categories)
4. Then, I can not edit or delete these "new" parent categories (categories menu is empty).

I'm not sure I'm follow you here, Where and what are you trying to do?
Creating categories in the forum with subcategory's, or article categories ? or even categories in the download section?

Oh, sorry, my english betray me ^^U

Well, I'm talking about tiny portal categories for articles.

I have created categories with subcategories for my articles:

Parent Categories
   - Subcategories
       - Articles

Later I decided to suppress parent categories. TP advised me that subcategories wouldn't dissapear, but they will be move upper level:

Parent Categories
- Parent Categories <--- Subcategories
       - Articles

Now I can't edit or delete these parent categories. Categorie Manager is empty. Even when I create new categories, cannot subcategorize them with "old" categories. They doesn't appear in the category list. I can add new articles for all the categories, but not edit or delete parent categories.

Normal? Bug? Not implemented? My fault?

I think i have to let Bloc answer that, but i think when you delete the main category, the child categories will be deleted as well, just like if you delete a forum category and you get that question if you want to delete the child categories to.

but I'm not sure about it though.
But if you want to delete the child categories, i think you can go in to your database and erase the entries there

Sounds like a bug. I will move to teh bugs board and see what Bloc says.

Please state what SMF/TP versions you are using.

Indeed a bug. The child categories should be moved up to the level the parent had.
