where can i find a package of the pre-modded files for tiny portal? I just want to try it but don't feel like editing code for 20 minutes

G6Cad

Premodded TP ?

If you want TP and test it you fint TP-V0.86 in the download section here. :)

K0ntagious

when i upload that and install the source it doesn't show up? I looked through the guide and i've been trying it for 2 days. I need a noob friendly install guide.

Switch to the SMF Default theme. If your installation went OK (no failures), it should show. Themes for standalone SMF dont work with TP (Apart form Default and Babylon). You need to use themes for that are compatible with both TP and the SMF version you have. There are many in the downloads section of this site that you can download free.

Ok i did that but I get a message saying it worked on the top and an error on the bottom.

error:

2: copy(/home2/hedgediv/public_html/forum/index.php~): failed to open stream: Permission denied
File: /home2/hedgediv/public_html/forum/Sources/Subs-Package.php
Line: 1307

I chmoded that file to 777 and it didn't fix it.
also outside of the template i get this at the top

Install / Upgrade TinyPortal v0.8.6beta

    * Upshrink table exists
    * Settings table exists
          o Reset theme changer
          o Updated version to 086
    * Blocks table exists
    * Variables table exists
    * Articles table exists
    * Dlmanager table exists

TinyPortalÂÃ,´s table structure is now installed/updated.
Please restart your forum to see the changes.

Thank you for trying out TinyPortal.

The last is as it should, it just displays what db actions TP does. It also shows that tables are not gone from previous.

The first error suggests the server won't let you chnage the files. I think you will need to do it the manual way.

K0ntagious

well, that's the strange thing. i did do it the manual way... and it still doesn't seem to be working

Check to make sure none of the files show '0' for the filesize.

K0ntagious

none, you think if i gave you ftp and admin for my board you could figure it out. it's really strange

Sometimes this error, "failed to open stream: Permission denied" is a restriction that your host has put on their PHP installation. You can check with your host and see. If that does not help post back and we'll try to figure something out.
