How intigrated are TP with SMF? Can I just "drop" it when I don't want/need it?

Just have a few very basic questions. I'm usally very good at digging up answers, but this time I'm just a bit "lazy".  ::)

Reason is that I'm both goin from;
phpBB >> SMF
MX-system >> TP (Maybe)

My question is just as the topic says:
How integrated are the SMF <> TP?

Can they be kept sepperate if I want?
For example run another portal along side it.
Can I just "uninstall" TP with ease, or is hardcoding involved?

Sorry for the very basic questions, but I have 2 totaly new systems to learn from scratch, I have no clue how either work besides the very very basics.

Thanks for your time who ever reads and has the strength to answer.  ;)

TP is designed to be a mod for SMF. So, like any other mod, it can be installed / uninstalled via SMF's Package Manager or it can be installed / uninstalled manually.

The only SMF file it actually changes is index.template.php and it only changes it minimally. So, if you needed to uninstall it manually, for whatever reason, as opposed to having it uninstalled via Package Manager, all you'll need to do is remove the TP files, that are seperate from SMF, and remove the little bit of code in index.template.php.

So, for the most part, you could say they are seperate, as only one SMF file is actually modified by TP. However, they are fully integrated.

First things first.
Thank you so much for replying.

Second.
So you code a tiny bit into the SMF.index.php for the TP to show?
That means you cannot "double" portal the SMF forum with another portal at the same time.
Not that I will. But the question clear out the ? for me. ;)

Second... (If you still got the time or any other that might have a sec.)
In SMF I/we can "hide" certain rooms and show for only a few groups/people.
Is it possible to hide the TP blocks in the same way?

As in can I hide a menu form guests and only show it for registered and another menu that only a specific group can see?

Why would you ever want to do that ? TP have everything you ever need ;)

No i don't think you can have two portals to the same forum.

Yes, it work the exact same way, you can hide and show what ever you want for diffrent groups you create or the predefined ones

Xlnt. Thank you for your time.

Well...
This sounds like the system for me.
If this one also has a small calendar that shows if theres any events goin it will be perfect.
Else I just have to manage.
Code diving time.

Thanks again for the replies. :)

Comes as part of an SMF forum.

Yes, there's a full calendar that comes with SMF.

But, I think he means a calendar in a block, a "small calendar"?

SMF "only" comes with the Calendar button that people have to push so they then can see the calendar page.
I'm talking about a small version of that that you could show on the frontpage as a miniCalendar TP block.

[EDIT]
Yes anunlike. Thats exactly what I mean.

johanlm

Yes.
I did a searched before I even did this post and found that one.
But as I understand it, it only shows the month and current date.
It dosen't "show" the events people has posted in the forum/SMFcalendar.
They don't interact with each other.
Or did I missunderstand it totaly?
