you can, it just requires a lot of klugery and tomfuddlery.  .9 will definitely get me where I want to go, so I might just have to wait.  There is a post floating around somewhere ( I belive "yet another article question") where bloc posted some hints as to what the newer version might contain.

Yep, I'd heard that. I've put another question about getting a "First Page" for people to view when they first arrive on my site http://www.tinyportal.net/smf/index.php?topic=5013.new#new in the hope someone may know how to do this. *is trying hard!*

I've put a post on how I've just managed to do a First Page here which people will see when they first visit a Forum, and am anxious for others to test and see if it works for them like it has for me.
