Getting rid of Mambo

Currently I run SMF/Mambo combination. As my site is more forum oriented and I really did I like what I saw in TP I am considering getting rid of Mambo. I know I can do everything manually, but still there are few things which I am really curious about. I only use Mambo for articles and almost all articles are from the forum. At the present time I copy the chosen post from the SMF and paste it as an article under a category in Mambo, and give the link to forum to discuss about it. Is there any feature in TP which can help me to set a post in SMF to use as an article without manually copying and pasting under the new article ? I have seen the feature to show the forum's post on the frontpage, but it is only limited to a single board of SMF, isn't it ? I just want the selected posts to show on the front page.

My second curiosity is, is there anyway I can convert Mambo's database structure to use in TP ? I only need the current articles and categories.

I'd say the jury is still out on this one, but unless ur a Savant with phpMyAdmin my answer would be "NO"

Ur more than likely going to have to port all your articles by hand to Tiny Portal later.

Indeed TP and SMF will be integrated as one.  I would not risk blowing up TP for articles you can Cut-n-Paste.

Seems lengthy, but as you prolly well aware, fixing a broken forums or SQL structure can take your hours, where-as simply copying over ur infoz will take u minutes...

If you're forum based and only use Mambo for highlighting posts, then you could consider a switch.

-HOWEVER-

Depending on how you have SMF bridged into Mambo, you may pay the piper in even converting over the bridged SMF to an unbridged example.

I installed Mambo once.  Uninstalled it the same day.  But I stole some style sheets and tables!  Mwuahahaha.

Before i knew about TP, i tried joomla/mambo first and later mkportal.  Then 6 months ago i landed here and i know now that TP is simple the best! Great portal and a great team. There isn't a better place to be
