Is it possible to modify variables?

Hi:

Yesterday I modified the appareance of our articles by erasing some variables ({article_rating}, for example).

Before variable called {article_author} I wrote "Publicado" (Published in english) in order to see "Publicado por Yorel" (Published by Yorel) in each article. The problem is I think the {article_author} has an space to the beggining. Take a look the result:

I didn't left any space between "Publicado" and "por" in the code

So I think there is an space in the beggining of the {article_author}, is it possible to edit it to erase that space?.

There is one space in the code before and after the word "by". You can do whatever you like with it. In Themes/default/TPsubs.template.php search for the article_author() function and you will see where the   is.
