I have a right side block with recent posts. How do I change which boards it shows posts from? I know I've done it before as a few boards do not show, but I want to remove another board from showing in recent and cannot find it after looking all over.

Thanks,
ST

IchBin

That requires custom code to grab different boards that the built in block. We have plenty of blocks to choose from in our code snippets board if you are looking for one.

Thanks Ichbin,

What threw me off is certain boards are already omitted, but I saw no code in the built in block. Will go look.

The only board that would be omitted from the built in "recent topics" block on your site is a recycle board, if you have enabled that in YourSite/index.php?action=admin;area=manageboards;sa=settings

There is no code in the built in "recent topics" block to keep a board from showing up to an Admin.  As an Admin, you can see all recent topics in that block.  When Ichbin mentioned "custom code", he meant that you would have to find one of the block code snippets in our "Block Code Snippets" board that would allow you to do this.  The search is your friend.

That was really a big help. Problem was I was looking at snippets, many were outdated. Then when I went to Index of Code snippets, which I assumed the latest and greatest(http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?topic=31067.0) and go to recent posts or topics, they all seem to require nice tool tips. Somehow I did not see the one Zar pointed me to listed in there?

I actually got one working(with nice tool tips) as a block, spacing was way off and I had NO idea how to mod the code to exclude boards. And really I wanted the simplest solution possible. The hover stuff is nice, but more then I need.

The snippet Zar pointed me to is documented very well and I think I can get that to do what I need, which is simply excluding some boards from my recent block.

thanks guys, as always your a big help!

Scott,

I think all, or most, of the snippets with the hover tooltips are formatted to work with a larger width, like in an article or a wider panel, like the top, upper, bottom, or lower panel.  I have an article here that has one of those in a bottom block.  You should be able to see that one in action by clicking on the link (Show Last 25 Topics) in left panel block titled "Last 25 topics" right above the Recent block or you can just see the article by clicking this link ▬▬► http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?page=recent

The one I directed you to should be coded (formatted) correctly for the left or right panel which I think is what you wanted.  Let us know when you get it working so that we can mark this topic solved. ;)
