Help with TP

Hello, this may sound like a very noobish question.


For a looong time now I have tried to make something like you have on the main site here, the scrolling thing with info where you can play pause the content,

Is there ANY way you can tel me how to make that? I have a website where I want to add something like that on my main site, where there is one saying we are recruiting? on with maybe facebook link etc etc etc,

I just found a script on the net I liked. Then added my pictures and text to it. It really is pretty simple if you find something you like that you can download and modify yourself.

Hello, I just think I found the one you are using here, where I downloaded a zip file containing some folders with stuff in them, and on the webpage the code was out in html, css and javascript format.

What I dont know is: the zip file is it something I have to use? and/or does it go to FTP server,

and the codes:

do they go into stylesheet folder stuff in theme? or is that just codes I can paste in and add into to TP blocks?

There's one on my test site,  http://cctestsite.info  it's a sliding version which pauses on mouse over, and links added to each banner to the various sites/   Not as pretty as the one used here though, but it works.

I see, well I was thinking more like the one they use here, where I can ad text into the scroller and pictures showing, one picture with our Logo, and text saying we are recruiting etc and when u click that picture you go to application section of forum, and next picture that scrolls is a Facebook picture, where text saying Like us on facebook, click it you go to our facebook page etc etc

Like  IchBin had mentioned,  you can search the web for Image sliders, and you will or should find a vast number of theme to choose from, some site will even over instructions on how to install them. Note that some may cost and others you may find free.. but you'll to do a little research to find what you link best.

The HTML part will need to be placed in the HTML/java Block you create with the Java stuff and Image folder in the same folder as your theme or you could place them in the main Themes folder so all themes can call it up from the HTML code you placed. there are various ways to do this.

Some may even have an embedded type short code that you can place and call on like when embed a video from U tube for example! so you really need to search and study a little to find what right for you.

If you download a package from another site, then that is all you need to make it work. You don't have to put it anywhere specific in SMF/TP to make it work. You just have to make sure that when you set it up that the paths are correct when you add it to a block or article.

I found one, jquery slider is the name or something, I downloaded their zip file containing a html file, opened it up copied the code and put it into our website with TP, then I added 2 images at img source path, when saving the code it shows the box, play, pause next etc and the picture, but the slider wont slide the pics, any ideas what it could be.


Allso when being here, I have a problem with TP itself, when trying to write a Html javascript code, it wont save it directly to save a Html code, I have to go to BBC code, type in the code, and then change the Box type to Html, then click save, for the code to generate :S allso the menus in html like center, size buttons doesnt work, when, when saving everything, website refreshes and the box is clean. :S

You should be able to run the html file on your desktop before uploading it, so you can see if it works.  I'm assuming you downloaded the slider (second one down) from this page. http://vandelaydesign.com/blog/web-development/jquery-image-galleries/

As for the Html javascript code problem, go Tinyportal > Article settings, and turn off WYSIWYG editor.  Then try and then try and create the block..

Yeah the second one from that page is the one still cant get the rotation to work though have tried different image sources :S
