First, let me way that TP is looking to be the answer to my prayers. Thank you for developing this. Once I'm up and running I'll be sure to leave a nice tip.

I run a site called scalemodeladdict.com and have been using SMF for a couple of years. I am now working a redesign of the entire site to bring everything 'under one roof'.
Being able to promote forum posts is awesome however I am having some formatting problems...well more a lack of understanding.

From what I can see...when i promote a post the first attached image is returned along with the contents of the first post. In the case of SMA, posts have a ton of photos inline. Is there a way to return only the attached image (to act as a preview thumbnail on the homeage) and only a exceprt of the post...not the inline images.

I hope I'm making sense here. There is an example on the dev site.

Thank you. I'm sure I'll be spending alot of time here over the next weeks.

Scott.

I just answered my own question. Character limit of 300....duh. I'll just have to make sure there is that much text before inline images.

Is there any documention on designing a custom layout type? I'm a bit lost with what does what.

Thank you.

Again, I think I've figured this out...using the various variables available in the custom layout field.

haha, yeah just takes a little fiddling with things most of the time. Good to see you figured things out. The problem with the character limit is that it doesn't check if it's cutting off the post where some BBC code is displaying an image or a link etc. Would be a little complicated to have something check for that I think.

Whenever I promote a post I'll either make sure it's one with a fair bit of text at the beginning and modify the post so that there is. That's just the way it will have to be. Not a big deal and being able to promote a post is a very nice feature.
