SMF 2.0
TP 1.104

OK, so I moved my SMF/TP site from a folder I used for testing called 'newforum' to the live site under public_html on the host server.

I did the SMF repair_settings.php thing. All seems correct.

I can get into much of the TP areas (such as articles), but when I try to go to specific SMF areas, like the forum, I get a 404 with "The requested URL /newforum/index.php was not found on this server.".

I am not quite sure what has happened. I know it is a file association problem, but what file is it that would direct menu items to a now empty folder?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT - It seems that EVERY site I host is also borked. I have several subdomains and a few friends hosted. With the subdomains I have to set a redirect to the absolute path or I get the above error message. I have no idea what is going on, but I may have to upload my entire site backup and start afresh.

Sounds like you need to contact your host.

Would this be a host permission issue?

Also, I was able to "put back" the TP/SMF software into it's former folder and everything works fine.

So...my question then is, how do I move this folder full of stuff into the main www area and make it work? Or is it better to just rename the folder it is in and go from there?

One more thing...I notice here (tinyportal.net) that when coming to the forum, the address bar reads "http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?action=forum".

This is different from my install. For me it says "http://www.mysite.ca/newforum/index.php" on the main page, but "http://www.mysite.ca/newforum/forum" when going onto the forum.

So...there is something wrong because the address format should be "http://mysite.ca/index.php?action=whatever". And ONLY the TP areas follow this protocol. The SMF areas do not.

Hmmm...

OK...you guys will think I'm retarded or something (I know I do)...

Turns out to be a mod I had installed.

Please make fun of me now.

I won't make fun of you, I've been there myself, I think it is safe to say we all have made mistakes. You figured it out and got it working, that is all that matters.

Freddy
