I have search unsuccessfully for an answer to my situation.  I am a new user of both SMF and TP.  I would like to have both articles and forum posts displayed on the frontpage.  However, I only get the first forum post out of the list of forum topics and the articles are not displayed.  If I select just articles I get the test article that I created displayed.  If I select only forum-posts I get the first forum post out of the list of forum topics and not any out of the other forum topics selected in >TPAdmin>Frontpage Settings

Any help that the members of the forum can provide would be helpful.

Hello bhouin,

Welcome to the TinyPortal Support Site.

First of all, for the Forum posts ...

Please click this link --> http://www.silvereaglesrc.org/forum/index.php?action=tpadmin;sa=frontpage

Scroll down to the bottom of that page and tell us what Boards you have selected for "Display forum-posts on frontpage from:" and what you have selected for "Number of posts/articles to display on frontpage:"

Next, for the articles, click this link --> http://www.silvereaglesrc.org/forum/index.php?action=tpadmin;sa=articles

On that page, click the Article Category that your Articles for the FrontPage are in.  You should see something like the example shown in the image below.

There are a series of icons to the right of the date.

1.  Make sure that the Articles that you want to show are active ( rather than )

2.  To show an Article on the FrontPage, for the 4th icon, make sure you see .  If you see instead, click it to change it.

3.  If you want an Article to be "Featured", make sure you see for the last icon.  If you see instead, just click it and it will change.

LMK if this fixes your problems.  If not, we'll go back to square one.

aha, so Jim, you have that same problem with the section menus stacking vertically too.  Firefox 5 by any chance?

ZarPrime,

Thanks for the reply.

For number of posts/articles it is currently set to 7 I have also tried the standard 5.  The Display forum posts on frontpage are "Club Activities", "Regional Club Activities", "Field News", "- none -", "- none -"

The article category is "General Articles" and the test article has the first icon green, the 4th icon is highlighted and the featured icon is selected (have tried either way)

Note: not sure exactly what I did but it is now showing both the articles and the forum post.  The only issue is that it is only showing the forum post from "Club Activities" and not the one that is also in "Regional Club Activities"  (There is one post each in "Club Activities" and "Regional Club Activities"

Lurk, yeah, have noticed that since I started using Firefox 5 but that's really the only issue with it as far as I can tell.  Otherwise, I like it a lot.

bhouin, ah, OK.  I believe that there is a bug in the version of TinyPortal that you are using that we have fixed for the next version.  Give me a few minutes to see if I can find a fix that you can apply.

bhouin,

OK, the fix that has been made for the next version of TinyPortal for this issue is given in this post --> http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?topic=34125.msg272832#msg272832

If you trust yourself to make this change, first backup the existing file, in case you make a mistake, and then do the edit and upload the file to the same location to try it.

The file in question will be located on your site in the Sources folder.
