This is a really simple question - maybe I am being dumb.

What does the News Block in TP do?  In SMF I had the standard news fader set up at the top of the forum with a few items.

But I want to have the news on the frontpage instead so I added the News Block to the Top Panel and enabled it.  I assumed that it would pick up the news items from the SMF News.  The News Block shows up but there is no content.  If I try to edit its settings there is nothing there to edit.

So what settings do I have to edit to get some content to show?

P.S. Just tried to insert the News Box script created by Bloc and that doesn't show any content either.

If you are not getting any errors in the log, I'm not sure there's much I can do to help. I'll give the news block a test on my site first.

Understood, but could you confirm if;

News Block should be displaying any adjustable settings when I try to edit it?
Should the news block be getting the news from the SMF news or is there something else?

Just to reconfirm, the News Box php script by Bloc is also not showing anything.

News block will get the new from the SMF news

Using the "News Box" by Bloc, will do the same, but I believe you can either let it display random lines of news from the SMF news, or you can tell it what line of news to display.

Both these blocks are working for me on my testsite, using TP1.0 RC2, and SMF 2.0

I just tested it on a clean install test site with SMF 2.0 and TP 1.104 and it works.  My live site has been upgraded since SMF 1.05.

I did note that during install on my live site, several database fields did not update correctly but those were all picked up in the error log.  I wonder if there is another one that is not correct but not giving an error.

I noticed even on the clean install, the Mini Calendar script by Bloc also does not show any content so I am assuming something is incompatible or has a bug.

Hopefully IchBin will have a solution for this problem.

The Calender doesn't appear to be working at all in this version.  In the previous version it wouldn't work either unless you did it the way described in this thread.  http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?topic=33855.msg271769#msg271769  Unfortunately this little trick no longer seems to work.

IchBin is aware of this one. ;)
