Create Topic with TP Download Manager issue

now I have another question related to the same thing.....

I have certain boards that members can upload and create a topic at the same time
I watched this same memeber try to upload and create a topic, the file was named correctly and was uploaded and no topic was created
I searched the admin error log and found no current error under that users name or any error relating to the file manager....

This last question you asked is actually a different question than your OP so I am going to split this new one from the original topic and  mark this one solved.

Before posting in this new topic, please check your settings for the TP Download Manager, specifically that "Create new topic?" is enabled and that you have selected the "Boards to use for support topics".  The link on your site would be here --> hxxp://www.yoursite.com/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=adminsettings

Also, make sure that the member in question has permission to post in that board.

should have relized better to make new topic - thanks for splitting it

1> create new topic is option
2> boards to use for support topics have been selected and correct ones are being tested
3> member is in group checked as allowed to upload, create topic , manage files even
4> member has permission to post in that board
5> i have tested this myself and topic is created, though I am site admin
6> I tested this with test account, same group/permissions as user who reported this to me, test account does not create a topic!

I have since went in to double check Create Topic is enabled, it is.
I have checked error logs, there is nothing that I can find related to this.
I have checked group permissions they look ok
I return to TP settings and permissions for file manager AND now the group permissions are somehow removed!

I reapply group permissions in TP File manager hxxp://www.yoursite.com/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=adminsettings, test again and no post is created,
I return to group permissions hxxp://www.yoursite.com/index.php?action=admin;area=permissions and nothing appears out of place
I look again at hxxp://www.yoursite.com/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=adminsettings
AND now the group permissions are somehow removed again!

It must be a conflict in permissions?
I am guessing simple too, but I cannot see it....I think I am looking to hard!

When you save the permissions for member groups in the downloads manager, do the permissions actually save? What I mean, is it may appear they are saved when the page is loaded after you save. But if you refresh the page, do the permissions still show properly?

I cannot reproduce the same problem at this time. If you could provide the info shown when creating a new topic it would definitely help.

well screenshots dont seem helpful, looking at what I see one more time!

1> permissions once added in TP and refresh screen still show as there after page refresh or reload, they dissapear if you go to group permissions and come back.

2> when test account tries to upload a file, the file uploads, no topic is created and no error is reported, the file completes uploading and the page returned to is the download page for file just addded

3> I checked after topic fails to create and permissions in TP are still there.

Sorry grizz but I cannot replicate this issue. If I save the permissions in downloads and then go to the group permissions and come back the settings are still saved. I'll try to do some more testing later, but maybe someone else can try to replicate the issue too.

to see if there is something I am missing?

if so, what sections of permissions or all?
