Can't see option to add blocks, it's gone

I've been using this but had to uninstall all mods and upgrade again as I had an issue with a theme.  Long story.  Anyway, I have it all back up and running and can see tiny portal but the blocks section where I actually manage the blocks is borked.  I don't have an option to add a block and I can only see the left and right panels with only 1 block each on them.  I tried uninstalling but that caused me all sorts of issues that I've just fixed.  Reinstalled again and the options are still unavailable.  I'll have to switch it off until I get help with it, so if anyone has had this before, can you tell me what to do.

Oh I did check in settings, the blocks and panels are all enabled and visible to admin, I just can't get to them

I do apologise, I was stressed up to the eyeballs when I wrote that yesterday.

I'm on 2.0 rc3. 

My site is www.prettysims.com, I've disabled the portal as I don't want a blank page at the fron and apart from two default blocks, that's all I have on it, stats and shoutbox.

I am using downloads pro which is compatible with tp.  I did have a theme called headline and that was messing up a lot of mods on my forum, so I deleted that and all I have now are recoloured images in the default theme.  The only other thing that will be changed is the .css and that hasn't been done yet.

I hope this is enough info.  I did uninstall and went into core ftp and removed all references to tp in there so that I could have a fresh install but it didn't help

It could have been that you just got a bad install the first time.  The information that we really needed is in the posting template at the bottom of the Posting Guidelines.  It looks like this ...

Did you have access to the TP Admin Settings when you had it installed?  If you got a bad install in the Package Manager with one or more failures before installing, you might have to install all or part of it manually.  When this happens, it is generally because another Mod you installed prior to installing TinyPortal messed up something that TP was looking for during it's install.

In any case, I hope that you haven't edited the default SMF theme but created a copy of it before making your theme edits to SMF.

You must understand that if you no longer have TinyPortal installed, it will be very difficult to help you solve the problem.  My suggestion would be to switch to the default SMF theme (theme #1), reinstall TP, and then go to the FrontPage Settings in TP Admin and select "Go directly to forum index" under "What to display on frontpage:".  Once you have done this successfully, come back to us and we can go from there.

If you have any failures prior to the install, be sure to let us know what they are and we can direct you to where you can get the manual edits for those files.

Oh, the other thing you mentioned, "downloads pro which is compatible with tp", I can't say whether that is compatible with TP since I've never even heard of it.  TinyPortal has it's own Download Manager built in.

Yes it was working before, like I said in my original post I had trouble with a theme I installed, I uninstalled my mods, then uninstalled the them, then reinstalled all my mods  Tiny portal has been the first mod installed on both occasions, then the downloads mod.  So the first install was fine.  I just don't think I'm finding all of it when I uninstall it, it leaves files everywhere after the uninstall and I tried to delete them manually but it's a hard task to find all the remnants as it seems to spread itself out.

Tiny portal is still there and just needs reinstalled but it's been a long time since this happened now and my foru would have looked like crap if I had left it as it was, I can easily put it back on if I know someone is going to look at it, or someone could even ask me for access to the site and see for themselves.

Absolutely no failures before the instal.

Downloads pro is made by vbgamer.  The download system with tp isn't adequate for our needs.  It doesn't have much in it that is useful to us, we require a more robust download system with comments on the same page and the ability to add multiple images and .rars as well as being able to have multiple sub categories with images on each and a thimbnail image on the download itself from category view.  There's more but tp offers none of that, we did try it.

I think I covered everything you asked for this time, so can you help?

I have this working now, I went through the whole of my files on the server and deleted anything with tp in it.  Then a fresh install and it's up and running.

A little late for me getting back here but thank you for letting us know that you've got everything up and working now.  I just looked at your site.  So Far, So Good.

Ah, yes, that downloads Mod is pretty good from what I've heard.  FWIW, the TP Download Manager is a little more robust these days.  Much of what you ask for can be done with it but somewhat differently.  For instance, you can now attach an additional image, and though you can't have comments on the same page, the Download Manager now gives you the option to start a new topic in the board of your choice where you can, of course, attach additional images.

Anyway, I will mark this topic solved.
