Error Message:
You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'IFNULL(mem.realName,art.author) as realName FROM vlhl_tp_articles AS art
LEFT' at line 2
File: /home/mystical/public_html/Sources/TPortal.php
Line: 2153

All was working fine, but I  was trying to figure out how to get an article I wrote to appear on the main page. I wasn't really doing anything at all, just looking at menu/panels etc... couldnt figure out why my article wouldn't show on the main page.
Then, suddenly, I got the error message above and I can't do anything. It just gives me the 'back' option, but anything I do when I go back does not work.
I am truly a comp noob. 38 year old mom of 5 and SO not good at this computer stuff.
Help... please?
-------------------------------------
Okay, from looking at another post, Im guessing that it is something round here?:
$request =  tp_query("SELECT var.* , IFNULL(mem.realName,0) as realName,mem.avatar,
               IFNULL(a.ID_ATTACH, 0) AS ID_ATTACH, a.filename, a.attachmentType
               FROM " . $tp_prefix . "variables AS var
               LEFT JOIN " . $db_prefix . "members as mem ON (var.value3 = mem.ID_MEMBER)
               LEFT JOIN " . $db_prefix . "attachments AS a ON (a.ID_MEMBER = mem.ID_MEMBER)
               WHERE var.type='article_comment'
               AND var.value5= " . $article['id'] . "
               ORDER BY var.value4 ASC", __FILE__, __LINE__);

Im not sure if that is the correct line, but I dont know how to find line 2153

Well. Now I've done it.
In another thread here that I found, there was the suggestion to go into the database via myphpadmin and remove the block. I did this. And now my site is unavailable. Just a white page.
Im in panic mode because I have to leave first thing in the morning to catch a boat to my best friend's wedding. I just wanted to add an article/welcome block to the site. Made a category and then this happened.
I will have no internet access for the next few days and Im really hoping to get this sorted out before I leave. Im afraid Ive ruined my site. permanently.  :(

No go.
I had tried that a bit earlier also, as I had seen it posted for someone else, but it doesn't work. I thought I had blocks turned off of everything other than 'home'. This is so strange.
--------------
Is there any way I can uninstall this portal from my FileManager or something do you know?
I guess from what Ive seen, there seems to be an incompatibility or problem when using this portal with 1.11.
Although Simple Portal didn't have the shoutbox etc., it was pretty simple to use and I was able to make categories etc. I think I should just stick with something simple like that.
The board was just starting to generate interest, I had posted an update on FB letting people know about the new portal and then .... *poof*. :(

If you try searching for"2153", you will find the exact fix for the problem you are having.  Here is the link --> http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?topic=32376.msg260521#msg260521

I apologize, I posted on the thread you linked me to instead of this thread.
I had already tried the fixes on that thread but couldn't figure it out. I couldnt find the exact line, my line of error was slightly different from the one listed in that thread, so instead I opted for the taking the block out manually via the database. Now, it is worse than ever.
And now I can't access my site at all.
This is very frustrating. I have to get to bed and be out the door in 5 hours.
I was really hoping to at least get the site back up again.

I really don't know how to help you in that short of a period of time, especially given that you don't know what you did in phpMyAdmin.  Do you have a recent backup of your database?  Can you even get into your Admin section?

I removed your post in the other topic.

OK, it looks like you managed to get your Forum back up, perhaps you used a backup of your database.  When you return from your trip, we can get back into this and see if we can fix the problem.

Thank you for removing my other post.
Yes, Sabre helped me on SMF Community site.
I went into Packages, and into Backup And chose the one that said 'before_TP' and restored the site that way.
I am SO relieved!
I think I will just leave it for the time being, or maybe just re-install Simple Portal.
I really couldnt for the life of me, figure out the articles/categories etc. And in trying to sort it out, I brought this problem about.
Although it is probably a wonderful mod, it seems a bit too complicated for me. :D
