Hello,

First Time poster here.

I must say I enjoy TP quite a bit compared to some other portal scripts out there.

Now to the point, I converted a large IPB fourm ( 200k posts, 2k members ) to SMF 1.1.11 and installed TP 1B5-1. So far everything is Great!

However I have one request ( Yes I have searched the forums and either I'm blind or I'm not searching the magical mix of keywords ). I have a board that is all news and updates that is properly displaying on the frontpage however I can not seem to get it to show the attachments on the frontpage. Yes I understand I can use the BBC code however the people who will do most News postings are simple and don't want to deal with FTP/Photobucket/etc - they just want to write, attach and be done.

Is there any custom layout function that will allow attachments to display? If this has been answered please direct me to the post and I will self serve myself.

Thank you,

G6Cad

As far as i know TP have never had that function built in to show attachments from a post, but i think there were some code ( block code and snippet ) but i cant find it eather :/

Thats disappointing to hear, thank you for responding quickly.

let me just say that ANYTHING is possible if and when people write code. its hust a matter of how badly people want it. SMF has a very strong SSI.php which people can utalise to write code in php / html / javascript code in blocks or articles. Tinyportal is still in Beta and is extreamly powerfull, people are writing new blocks for it all the time.

At the moment TP can't do exactly what your after , however this could change as people write more blocks to do what they want/need.

I've yet to find any real limitations that can't be got around ny coding blocks and articles for TinyPortal

Hello fryguy503,

Welcome to TinyPortal.

@ G6 and BlueSteel, please excuse me for interjecting something here. ;)

fryguy, if you are referring to image attachments (I think that's what you mean), TP 1.0 beta 5 (and now 5-1) is actually the first version of TP to offer this feature.  I have tested it on SMf 2.0 RC3 but not on SMF 1.1.11.  However, I assume it will work fine.

To use it, your FrontPage settings must have the following options enabled ...
1.  Use first post attachment preview as illustration? (Yes)
2.  Layout #4 - Picture + Article

However, you should be aware that, right now, until Bloc release an update, there is a slight bug with this feature, at least with SMf 2.0 RC3.  Posts with multiple attachments will be duplicated on the FP.  In other words, if a post has 2 image attachments, it will be shown twice on the FP, once with one image and once with the other one.  This bug has been fixed by Bloc for the next update when it is released.  You can read more about this bug here --> http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?action=bugtracker;sa=bug564

That is great to hear, currently I am using smf 1.1.11 but I have no reason not to upgrade if it gives me the needed features. I will see how that works and report my results. Thank you.

Like I said, try it with SMF 1.1.11 and beta 5-1.  It probably works but I can't say for sure since I haven't used TP 1.0 beta 5-1 on SMF 1.1.11 yet.  If it doesn't work right with SMF 1.1.11 for some reason, we would certainly appreciate you reporting that issue as it should work.

Just a reminder.
