Google Chrome 'Resolving Host' nightmare.

Thought I would ask here as I know a few people use Chrome here.

The past few days this has been a real pain in the bottom.

For lots of sites I am getting the 'Resolving Host' popup down the bottom left corner of Chrome.

I've tried searching for a solution but nothing has so far worked.

Does anyone else experience this and have they found a fix ?

Hmmm, the only browser that I try not to use lately is Internet Explorer.  I had switched to using Opera almost exclusively about 2 months ago but about a week ago, Opera upgraded me to their latest version and I was having some problems with it being able to work on several sites, including their own home page and CBSSports.com.  So, I switched back to using Chrome again about a week ago, and though I'm using Firefox to reply to this topic right now, I haven't seen anything like you are describing using Chrome.  I'll look at it again later this evening.

I use Chrome exclusively and have experienced that for a long time. Usually when I'm opening up a new url (notably Facebook). The past few days though it's been worse than normal. There doesn't seem to be an explanation or solution at this point though I suspect it may have to do with the number of tabs you have open and the number of queries taking place in each. For example yesterday gmail refused to open said there were to many queries. I was able to open it just fine with Firefox. Eventually it did open but a real pain and I really like Chrome. Might have to switch back to Firefox though.

I think it has something to do with flash. You may be opening a site with ads, that are in flash?

I asked this question once before, and I was told it was my AVG.

Happen to me too, on mostly SMF forums. They will need to disable hostname lookups.

Well I don't think it is flash because it was working fine last week.  Unless it was introduced in the last Chrome update or something like that.

I have tried to disable DNS pre-fetch too, which is commonly suggested, but that doesn't work.  I also tried emptying the browsing history - cache, downloads etc, but that didn't work.

Sometimes it's not a long delay others times the site fails to load but if I then do 'refresh' it is instantly found - so it's not consistent.

At this point I think I agree with Nick3cs, it does seem to happen when going to a new url.  When I am actually in a site I don't think it has a problem.

But yesterday, I had some HTML files I was working with on my desktop and I clicked one of them to view and got it then too - after waiting a while it failed to load and then a refresh loaded it instantly.  So I am at a loss as to why it was doing a DNS lookup for something on my desktop ?

All very frustrating but thanks for the replies.  They must fix this sometime if it's affecting a lot of people, which it seems to be.

Yes I agree, it's the same here.  Maybe it was an update.  Are you using Chrome Beta too ?

I'm running version 4.1.249.1042 (42199), and it says an update is available.  I's working good.  Maybe I should update to see if it quits working for me. :buck2:
