Greetings all,
Can you guys help me with a quick mystery?
Problems:

  • I am a TP newb and could not find any answers in DOCs, forgive me.  :idiot2:
  • I have what appears to be a "copy" of one of my articles hanging in my frontpanel/frontpage that will not go away.

My site: http://jeepsoverland.com/simplemachinesforum/index.php?PHPSESSID=07i47gepdsncnpphk5ifka6vc6&
SMF - 1.1.11
TP - v1.0 Beta4

I have 2 articles in the "upper panel" that apear fine. I have the article in question, as it should be, located in the "lower panel." Now that same article shows up in the middle. It is not showing in the control panel as a block. I cannot find a command/script/code/panel that is sending it there in the middle. Why does it show up? Plus is has black font in the title, why would that be?

I am not looking for someone to do my work/fix my code, just perhaps someone who could give me a direction where to look the remove the ghost image of that article. My site is still in the construction stage and not schedulled for release until April, so please forgive the graphics/etc have not been edited yet. I am stll working on the architecture first.

This is happening because what you have selected for "What to display on frontpage:" in your FrontPage settings is either one of the articles selections or the Featured Article selection.  The question is this ...
Do you want to use the lower panel to show that article or do you want the article itself to be shown.  You can have both (since this is how you have it setup) but, if you don't want to show both, you will either have to change that Frontpage setting to not show articles or you will have to turn the block off.

You might also want to check the edit page for that article to see if it is set as the featured article or set to show on the FrontPage.  Turning both of those off may fix your issue.

Let us know.

Zar, thank you for the prompt response. "Featured article" sounds familiar. Does that place it into the frontpage/frontpanel as well? BTW - Why would that font in the title be black?

I will go take a look right now sir, thanks again.

Zar, I turned off "feature" and it was still there but there was an icon for "toggle show on frontpage."  :uglystupid2:

I switched it off and now it is gone. I am still trying to figure out all the icons/options.  ::)  Thanks-a-million sir!

The black Font for the Article header is because it uses different CSS to display the header for Articles.  You can see this difference, especially when you mix Articles and Topics together on the FrontPage.  As an example, take a look at me test site ---> http://talesofthehavenexpanse.com/smf1test/index.php

If you scroll down, you'll see an Article called "Shane Test" with one type of Header but right below that is a topic from the News Board called "Pic Test #1".  Note that the headers are different for Articles and Topics.  Also, note that right above "Shane Test" is an Article that has no Header.  It is called "20 Most Recently Posted To Topics".  It is actually set to be the Featured Article but is shown without the Header because that Article has the Frame turned off.  An Article set as Featured Article just allows that particular Article to stay on top, above all the other Articles.  The others below that will just be sorted by date but the Featured Article always stays on top.

TinyPortal is very powerful and it's all about experimentation to get the look that you want, the best look for your site.  The more you experiment with it, the more you will learn about these things.

I'm glad we got you fixed up. O0 Topic marked solved.
