2.0 Support

Ok I know that bloc has an unreleased TP for 2.0... But the solid SMF 2.0 is being released soon (no more RC), So when do you think this will be released? The only thing keeping me back from 2.0 RC2 is TP, I'd just like to know a rough estimate..  I am stuck in the WORST time for releasing a forum, because when 2.0 is released all of my mods for my site and my custom theme are screwed and I basically have to start over with those, I kind of want to get my forum 2.0 ready but I can't until at least a rough TP beta is released for 2.0 . Also on an unrelated note will the mods for SMF 2.0 RC1 and RC2 be compatble with the solid 2.0?

Welcome to TinyPortal.

The only thing that we can tell you is that TP 1.0 beta 5, which will work with both SMF 1.1.x and SMF 2.0 RC2, will be released when it is ready.  I know it seems like the same old song and dance, but there were so many changes required to make TinyPortal work properly with SMF 2.0 RC2 that many files had to be totally rewritten.  The initial alpha release of beta 5 is now in the hands of our Alpha Testing Team and the few bugs remaining are being worked out and solved quickly.

Please bear in mind that the TinyPortal Team are as excited to finally be on the verge of getting this out as you and the rest of the TinyPortal Community are to get it.  It is being tested as fast as possible and has even been installed on a few live sites, so, suffice to say, it is getting closer to release every day.

As for the second part of your question, most, if not all, themes and SMF mods require at least a few edits to work with SMF 2.0 RC2.  For this reason, TP 1.0 beta 5 will not work with any 2.x version of SMF (betas and RC1) prior to RC2.  Please just be a little more patient.  I know you are excited to get your hands on it, but you couldn't be more excited than we are to get it out to you and to the rest of our users.  We just need a little more time.

Thanks. I'm just itching to get my hands on TP beta 0.5. One more question... When is it not going to be called a beta?

LOL  If it's difficult to say when beta 5 will be released it would be next to impossible to say when TP Gold would come out.  I can tell you this, it won't be before SMF 2 Gold comes out.

There's no reason you couldn't install a copy of you forum to another folder and get things updated and working in the mean time though. So when TP finally comes out, you'll be ready so that is the only thing you have to worry about.

Ability to set which topics should appear on frontpage is one added feature, but mostly its adjusting for SMF2.0 and improving existing features.
